Is informed that one Williams, now voluntarily confined in Montgomery gaol, is desirous of leaving his present residence. He should not be allowed to do so until after the assizes, where he is due to give evidence, and should on no account be allowed to 'go awry'.
Letter from T. Edmund Marsh from Llanidloes, to the Earl of Powis,
Encloses the depositions against the five rioters recently captured, and also the evidence prepared against John Lewis. Desires to know if the latter is sufficiently strong to warrant a charge of sedition against Lewis. The magistrates are not anxious to multiply indictments, but would like to know whether charges should be preferred against those who assaulted Armishaw and Blenkhorne.
Letter from T. Edmund Marsh from Llanidloes, to [the Earl of Powis],
The owner of the building intended as a barracks is prepared to take any rent that may be thought proper. Considers that £18 or £20 per annum is sufficient. There will be convenient accommodation for fifty or sixty men. Was responsible yesterday for the capture of Abraham Owen. He was taken without any difficulty in a house on the outskirts of the town.

The military detachments at Llanidloes and Newtown should be placed in barracks. It is injurious to their discipline that they be constantly in billets. Crime has increased among them, and there have been no fewer than fifteen desertions during the last two months.

Has been informed that John Nicholls, for whose capture a reward of £50 was offered, is in custody at Stockport. Suggests that a constable be sent there with a warrant for his arrest.
