Papers of the Jazz Heritage Wales archive, comprising material relating to what was initially known as the Women's Jazz Archive, later Women in Jazz, and finally Jazz Heritage Wales, which reflect the archive's founding and development, its aims and objectives and its wide-ranging involvement in the field of contemporary and historical jazz music. Together with material relating to the archive's founder Jen Wilson, reflecting her interest, involvement and personal achievements in the fields of music, media, education and history, particularly women's social history. The archive also includes material relating to organisations and projects in which Jen Wilson participated but for which she was not solely responsible.

Women in Jazz 20th Anniversary events

Material relating to events held to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Women's Jazz Archive/Women in Jazz, highlighted by a gala evening at Swansea's Dylan Thomas Centre featuring Women in Jazz patron Dame Cleo Laine, which also included a performance of Before Freedom; together with material relating to funding for the anniversary events. The gala evening coincided with events to mark Black History Month in October 2006.

Fragments from the Dark: book launch event

Information relating to a book launch event at the Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea, at which Women in Jazz performed. The book in question was titled Fragments from the Dark: Women Writing Home and Self in Wales and the event was organised by Swansea Bay Asylum Seekers Support Group and Swansea Women's Asylum Support Group, with all proceeds distributed to refugee charities.

Let Paul Robeson Sing

Material relating to the Let Paul Robeson Sing exhibition, which celebrated the life of African American singer and actor Paul Robeson, including programmes of events; posters; press cuttings; reviews; correspondence; and printed invitation from the Paul Robeson Wales Trust to the launch, 1 November 2001, of Breaking Chains, Making Links, 'a new book of responses to the life of Paul Robeson'.

The Let Paul Robeson Sing exhibition was a component of the Roots exhibition and festival, for which see Roots exhibition and festival.

Stepping Out

Material relating to Stepping Out, an exhibition celebrating the history of women in jazz in Wales as part of Black History Month, including flyers and posters; press release; exhibition programme; invitations to opening; press reports; playlist, with accompanying notes; performer photographs; exhibition panel texts; enquiry sheets; visitor comments; correspondence; and details relating to a funding application. The exhibition opened at Brecknock Museum & Art Gallery, 1 August 2003, to musical accompaniment by Women in Jazz members.
