Papers, 1953-[2006], relating to Dylan Thomas known as the Under Milk Wood group, including scripts of the radio play, [1953]-1954; papers, [1953]-1986, relating to the publication of the work, with the original score, [1953], of the incidental music composed by Daniel Jones; correspondence, 1953-1958, including an unpublished letter, 1953, from Dylan Thomas to his literary agent; programmes, 1954-2005, of stage productions of works by Dylan Thomas, mainly 'Under Milk Wood'; translations and adaptations of the work, [1958]-2003; and papers, 1960-[2006], relating to the film production, audio recording, and animated film of 'Under Milk Wood'.

Italia Prize script,

Bound copy of the script of Under Milk Wood, 1954, submitted by the BBC for the Italia Prize, consisting of a parallel French and English text, with notes on names and places, and an introduction; this appears to have been Daniel Jones's personal copy and is signed by him. Also included is a published list, 1955, of winners of the Prix Italia 1954. Under Milk Wood was awarded the Prix Italia for a literary or dramatic radio programme.

French translation, 1954, by Jacques B. Brunius of 'Under Milk Wood', entitled 'Au Bois Lacte', which appears to have been prepared for the Italia Prize submission; includes notes on names and places, and an introduction at the beginning of the script.

Papers, [1953]-1957, relating to the publication of Under Milk Wood, among them manuscript and typescript drafts, 1954, of Daniel Jones's Preface; a draft contents table, [1954]; typescript 'Notes on pronunciation', [1954]; an alternative typescript Preface by Daniel Jones, stamped 20 Dec[ember] 1957; a typescript list of amendments to the page proofs by Daniel Jones and Douglas Cleverdon; and two lists of emendations to the BBC script of UMW, [1953]x1954. The file also contains correspondence, 1954-1986, mainly addressed to Daniel Jones, with two replies by him, regarding Under Milk Wood, including the recording of the BBC production of the play, permission to use DJ's music, and royalties derived from the work.

With the exception of one file of general letters from a number of correspondents to various recipients, the files consist of the correspondence and papers of individuals, and include letters from Paul Ferris, 1975-2000; letters and manuscripts of Daniel Jones, 1927-1978; papers and letters of Glyn Jones, 1953-1990; letters from Francis Dufau-Labeyrie to Gwen Watkins, 1979-1983; and the correspondence, 1956-1967, of Vernon Watkins.

Prys-Jones, all of which relate to Dylan Thomas; together with a script, [1979], containing autograph corrections and additions, of a talk by GJ which appears to be an introduction to a performance of 'Under Milk Wood'; and photostat copies of seventeen letters, 1934-1953, to GJ from Dylan Thomas, with typescript copies of the same annotated by GJ and Ralph Maud. Also included is a manuscript draft of a series of five articles by GJ about Dylan Thomas published in The Western Mail, 1958; a postcard, 1958, from Richard Evans praising the articles; a scrapbook belonging to GJ containing articles and papers, 1953-1986, mostly relating to Dylan and Caitlin Thomas; additional notes and drafts of talks, [1954x1970], by GJ about Dylan Thomas; and papers relating to the Dylan Thomas summer schools at Swansea (1974) and Aberystwyth (1990) attended by GJ.
