Workshops for women in swing band, jazz and blues

Material relating to a series of Jazz Heritage Wales/Women in Jazz-run workshops for women musicians and vocalists held at Swansea Metropolitan University's Townhill campus, September 2009 to August 2010, with a view to forming a new swing band; together with material relating to subsequent performances given by the band (known as the Allstars Swing Band) at the 1911 Llanelli Railway Strike Gala Concert, held at Theatr Elli, Llanelli, 7 October 2011, and at a Charity World Music Night held at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, 14 October 2011.

Records, 1701-1910, of the business concerns of Charles Nevill, his son, Richard Janion Nevill and Nevill, Druce and Co., notably the Swansea Copper Works and the Llanelli Copper Works and collieries in Carmarthenshire, 1797-1910, including: a diary of Charles Nevill containing entries relating to the Swansea Copper Works and to analyses of copper ore, 1797-1802; copies of letters written from Llanelli, 1812-1813, and diary entries relating to lead works, 1811-1813, and to roadmaking at Llangennech, 1812-1813; letter books, 1804-1832; colliery accounts and reports, 1803-1836; bye-laws of the Llanelli Copper Works, 1805-1834; accounts of the sale of copper, rough copper books, etc., 1807-1874; ticketings of lead mainly from mines in Cornwall, Cardiganshire and the Isle of Man, 1852-1853; entry books of offers of lead ore, 1851-1876; registers of purchases, 1860-1875; lead ore produce books, 1862-1872; an account book of the steamer Harriet, 1838-1840; shipbuilding specifications, 1865-1872; and a large number of deeds and documents, 1701-1910, including industrial leases in Llanelli. Stradey and District Residents' Action Group

The file comprises papers relating to a campaign by local residents against a large housing development which had been approved for Stradey Park in Llanelli including papers relating to an appeal to the European Commission.

Soldier's diary

A transcript, [mid 20 cent.], of the diary, 26 July 1914-22 April 1916, of a soldier from Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, serving with the Royal Engineers in the First World War, including a record of his experiences on active service in the Dardanelles.
On the basis of information supplied by Mr Gwyn Jenkins, Talybont, January 2012, the writer of the diary has been identified as Hubert Cole, a Sapper with the 1st Welsh Field Company Royal Engineers. He married Kate Eveline Webb at St Luke's Bayswater on 1 November 1914.
