Speeches,

Due to pressure of time at the time of sorting, the speeches were numbered with little regard for chronology. Since many of the speeches are dateable the volumes have been provided with tables for suggested dates.

Speeches,

DLlG speeches and notes for speeches, many incomplete, numbered 2103-2139. The arrangement within this and the next volume is not satisfactory (cf. introductory note); the tables of suggested dates should reduce inconvenience. No 2136 is by Margaret LlG.

Speeches,

DLlG and Margaret LlG speeches and notes for speeches, numbered 2140-2169, many incomplete, about half of them by DLlG. A couple of items are in unidentified hands. No. 2166 is by Megan LlG. No. 2169 is made up of fragments of speeches, mostly by DLlG.

Political papers,

Political papers of DLlG, numbered 2170-2196. These include the report of an interview with Sir Edgar Spayer relating to the Port of London Bill, 21 Aug. [1907] (2174), Asquith's notes for his speech in the House on the Irish Settlement, 10 July 1916 (2177), decypher of telegram announcing abdication of the Czar, with endorsed note by Balfour, 15 March 1917 (2178), further memorandum by the Irish delegates, 29 Oct. 1921 (2181), medical report on Terence McSwiney, 22 Oct. 1920 (2183), papers relating to the dismissal of Miss Douglas-Pennant as Commandant of the Women's Royal Air Force, 1918 (2184), and papers relating to the 1922 general election (2187-2192). The remainder is largely printed matter.

Satirical rhymes,

Satirical rhymes on parliamentary matters and personalities, numbered 2197-2234, mostly written on the back of order papers and seat cards. They appear to be the work of Sir Wilfred Lawson: they are quite in the vein of his rhymes; his signature is on one of the seat cards; the hand-writing seems to be his (cf. Ellis Papers, nos 1364-5). Many are endorsed by DLlG with a note of the debate which prompted them, and date.
