Llenorion Sir Gaernarfon. Cyf. II,

A scrap-book containing material largely of Caernarvonshire interest (biographical notes, press cuttings, extracts from almanacs, copies of memorial inscriptions, etc.) compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). There is a rough list of contents at the beginning but this is not exhaustive and the pages are not numbered. Inset are two letters, one incomplete, 1920-1, from Ifan ab Owen Edwards, Llanuwchllyn to 'Myrddin Fardd'.

Miscellanea,

A notebook containing extracts transcribed by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') from S[imon] T[homas], Hanes y Byd a'r Amseroedd (Llundain, 1721), followed by press cuttings on the subject of plagiarism, etc., with references to a controversy which arose at Eisteddfod Gadeiriol Môn, Porthaethwy (Menai Bridge) in 1873. Individuals mentioned in the cuttings include [John Owen Griffith] 'Ioan Arfon' and [John James Hughes] 'Alfardd'.

Hen Benillion,

Two copies, the second incomplete, of a collection of 'Hen Benillion' compiled probably by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The first copy (not in the autograph of' Myrddin Fardd' except for some alterations and additions) appears to be part (pp. 494-573) of a larger work and is headed "Pen. XIV - Crynodeb o Hen Bennillion Gwerinol' (the word 'diardd[el]' has been added to the title at a later date). The second copy is in the autograph of 'Myrddin Fardd' and is earlier in date but the beginning and end are wanting and the section here (pp. 29-72) corresponds to pp. 523-566 in the other copy. Between these two copies is a printed article by E. Anwyl, Oxford on 'Penillion telyn y Cymry' [Y Geninen, 1891], pp. 251-4.

Wordlists, notes and transcripts,

A composite volume containing lists of Welsh words and their meanings, some in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), others from printed sources; notes in the autograph of R. Prys Morris, including references to a number of 'cywyddau', etc. by Edmwnd Prys in BM Add MSS and a few extracts from [Joseph] Besse, A collection of the sufferings of the people called Quakers (London, 1753); part of a letter from the Reverend Evan Evans [? Llansadwrn Rectory, Anglesey] to 'Myrddin Fardd'; and transcripts in the autograph of 'Myrddin Fardd' and others of poetry by Rowland Jones, Richard Hughes, Cefn Llanfair, Cadwaladr Cesail, Thomas Williams ('Twm Pedrog'), Morys Dwyfech, Huw Arwystl, [ ] 'Gutto o Leyn' (d. 1867) (beginning wanting) and [Evan Pritchard] 'Ieuan Lleyn', some printed in J. Jones ['Myrddin Fardd'], Cynfeirdd Lleyn (Pwllheli, 1905).
