Rees, comprising original full scores, draft scores and sets of orchestral parts for the bulk of his considerable output, including anthems, quintets, overtures, cantatas, choral works, songs and hymn-tunes, notably Duw sydd noddfa, Y trwbadwr, Y teulu dedwydd, String quartet, Hillsides of Wales and Christos.

Brogyntyn Lute Book

A volume, [c. 1595], containing some forty-nine pieces of lute music in an unidentified hand, the song titles originally written in a cypher alphabet but these mainly later erased and transliterated (pp. 7, 13-32, 125-136). Transcripts of verse and miscellanea were added, [c. 1621]-[1669], by Thomas Tanat, of Broxton, Cheshire (see introduction to Spencer & Alexander (1978) and Cheshire Visitation Pedigrees 1613 and 1663 (Publications of the Harleian Society, 59 (1909), pp. 233-234, and 93 (1941), pp. 107-108)) (pp. 5-6, 38-105, 179-192).
Ancilliary materials consisting of photocopies, [1960s], of correspondence, 1962-1964, of B. G. Owens, Keeper of Manuscripts at NLW, concerning enquiries about the Lute Book are filed seperately (Brogyntyn MS I.27a); the correspondents include F. W. Sternfeld (f. 1), Philip Brett (ff. 3-4) and Dr Percy Young (f. 15).

Melus-seiniau Cymru

'Melus-seiniau Cymru', a collection by John Jenkins, [1817]-[1820], with additions to about 1825 (watermarks 1805, 1813 in the fly-leaves), of Welsh tunes, most with the Welsh lyrics added.
The volume is divided into several sections, consisting of 60 psalms and hymns (ff. 2-26, 151-178), 40 hymn-tunes (ff. 28-48), 58 elegies, carols and moral songs (ff. 50-96) and 67 songs on various themes including military and romance (ff. 100-149, 179-190).

Per-seiniau Cymru

'Per-seiniau Cymru', a collection by John Jenkins, [1824]-[1825] (watermarks 1814, 1820), of Welsh tunes 'cyfaddas i Destunau difrifol' ('suitable for serious subjects') (f. 1).
The volume contains 101 tunes, 52 of which are copied from Melus-seiniau Cymru (NLW MS 1940iA). Nos 1-47 (ff. 3-48) and No. 56 (ff. 56 verso-57) have the Welsh lyrics added. A list of contents is on ff. 1 verso-2 verso.

Three music books bought by Isaac Williams 'of Mr. Parry, Relieving Officer, Dolgellau, Sept. 1903' and bound together into a single volume. They contain hymn-tunes, anthems and psalm-tunes, mainly by John Williams, Dolgellau, with a few tunes by R[ichard] Mills ['Rhydderch Hael'], one by I. R. Ellis, Dolgellau, 1841, and traditional and anonymous tunes; a poem entitled 'Amgylchiadau Marwolaeth Crist', an 'englyn' ('Y Farchnad Ysprydol'), 'englynion' by 'Shion Rhydderch', three hymns ('Mae'r gwaed a redodd ar y Groes', 7 stanzas, and 'Wrth edrych ar y sail', 4 stanzas, 'Ni'm diystyrir gan fy Nuw', 1 stanza), and a recipe for a cough.

A large scrap-book containing a collection of tunes and hymns assembled by Dr. Joseph Parry, most of the hymns being in the form of cuttings from hymnals with a number of holograph contributions, the tunes composed or arranged by the compiler.

The tune book of Edward Humphreys, Dolbadarn, Llanberis, containing hymn-tunes, psalm-tunes and anthems by J[ohn] Ellis, Llanrwst, E[dward] Humphreys, 1854, John Owen, Chester ('Owain Alaw') and William Owen, Prysgol. The music by 'Owain Alaw' includes the 'Magnificat' and 'Nunc Dimittis' which he composed for the Llanberis church choir in June 1852, and another 'Magnificat' in 1859.
