A collection entitled 'Casgliad o hên Gerddi difyr a digri', being transcripts, with annotations, by J. H. Davies from manuscript and printed sources, notably NLW Add. Testunau Cymraeg yn llaw W. H. Mounsey, etc.

A composite volume of the period c. 1869-70, almost entirely in the hand of W[illiam] H[enry] Mounsey and containing miscellaneous extracts and fragments of transcripts of literary and historical texts, with copious annotations by the scribe. Among the contents are a collation of the printed text of Y Marchog Crwydrad (Y Brython, 1862, pp. 1-17, 138-52, 257-67, 361-74) with the text of Llanstephan MS 178; 'Iolo Morganwg's opinion of Lewis Morris'; an Irish-English glossary (part of letter A, 4 pp.); 'Prophwydoliaeth y Ddau Fuddugoliaeth a gant Hwch y Maran', with an English translation; 'Stabat Mater', with an English translation; 'englynion', 'cywyddau', etc. from a variety of sources, such as 'Llyfr Hir' and 'Llyfr Du' and manuscripts of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg') and David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'), 'Llythyr at Dafydd Jones [Trefriw]' from John Pywel, Rhyd Eirin, Llansannan, 1766; etc. The spine is lettered 'Welsh Miscellanea - W. H. Mounsey'.

Gwaith Ieuan Brydydd Hir - II,

A composite volume similar in format to Cwrtmawr MS 445 containing further transcripts by W. H. M[ounsey], 1861 (pp. 1-62, 65-80), copies (typewritten) of letters from Evan Evans to David Jones, Trefriw and to Richard Davies at Oxford and Holywell (pp. 81-127), a transcript of the poem 'The Love of our Country', 1772, and of a letter, 1767, from Evan Evans to Dr Humphrey Owen, Principal of Jesus College, Oxford, with a note (crossed out), 1868, from Evan Jones, Lampeter, followed by transcripts of other poems and letters included in the printed volume (1876). Loose in the volume are a transcript of a letter, 6 January 1777, from [David Jones] 'Dewi Fardd', Trefriw to Evan Evans and of a 'cywydd' by the same to the same (inserted after p. 127), and notes on Evan Evans in an earlier hand. J. H. Davies has written on the fly-leaves at the end of the volume: 'All printed in Gwaith I[euan] B[rydydd] Hir 1876 Except pp. 81-127'. The loose items were not printed either.

A collection of letters to David Jones of Trefriw ('Dewi Fardd') from Lewis Morris, 1757-1759; Richard Morris, 1759-1767; their nephew John Owen, 1758; Margaret Davies of Coedcaedû, 1758; the Reverend Evan Evans ('Ieuan Brydydd Hir'), 1776; Owen Jones ('Owain Myfyr'), 1776-1778; John Powel of Llansannan (with a 'cywydd'), 1766; John Williams (with drafts of letters in the hand of David Jones), 1764; and copies of letters by Richard Morris to [Zachary Pearce], bishop of Bangor, 1753, concerning Goronwy Owen, 1752, and to [George Parker] Lord Macclesfield for the loan of the manuscripts of William Jones, F.R.S. An album: 'Y Sidg o Droea',

An album, begun by Sarah Wilson, 1827, containing copies of English poetry by James Montgomery, Felicia Hemans, T. K. Harvey, M. A. Browne, George Crabbe, and others. In 1883, the album was used by Padarn Davies, who copied into it the text of 'y sidg o Droea' with the following colophon: 'Gwallter Archiagon Rhydychain a droes y darn hwn o'r cronicl o Lading i Gymraeg. Ac Edward Kyffin ei ail ysgrifenodd fo i Siôn Trefor Trefalyn ysgwier pan oedd oed Crist 1577. A Dewi Siôn o Dref y rhyw yw'r trydydd ysgrifenydd yn oed ein Iachawdwr 1761, Mai-hafhing 9d. A John Prichard o Lanrwst yw'r Pedwerydd ysgrifenydd yn oed ein Iachawdwr 1775 Hydref y 9d. dydd. He finds that many are left out: giving such (names) as he did know or could learn to be so. He will be glad if he can get a place for the addressee's kinsman, Mr Gwyn. Damaged. (b) A letter, 29 Oct. [16]98, from Wm Jones, Dôlgu [? Dolgelheu], 'For Mr Edward Lhwyd to be left with Mr Thomas Francis painter at Montgomery'. In his way to Dolgelheu the writer waited on Mr Vaughan at Aberffrwdlan on Sunday last, 'who having read but ye 2 first lines of your letter was very much displeas'd you should mention in yours yt you sent me to transcribe those Manuscripts he promised ye persual of...'. Mention of Mr Parry and Mr Jn Pugh, Mr Jones, etc. Their quarters at Dolgelheu. Various items of news. Damaged. (c, d, e) Letters (three, two dated and one fragmentary, all damaged), 1737-1738, from J. Roberts, Bridgwater, to his kinsman, Wm Roberts, St Athans concerning their right to Justings [?Iestyn's] coat of arms and pedigree, etc. The first letter is written from London, where J. Roberts is giving his sons a visit by their request. (f) A letter, 20 Oct. 1758, from Dafydd Jones, Mwythig, to his wife, (Gwen). He has been to see Evan Evans, Denbigh, and Mr Wynn, Llangynhafal, both of whom are ill. Next day he went to Wrexham and at last found Wm Robert. He arrived at Shrewsbury on Wednesday afternoon: Mr Stafford Price and the Blodeugerdd, which they began to print on the 18th inst. If Mr Williams goes to Lincoln he would be glad to see him going via Shrewsbury home. On the dorse is an 'englyn' in which his six children are named. Reference to other members of the family. Welsh. (j) 'Rybydd i Mr Edward Williams Saer Maen, rag shomi Baal wrth Gywirio r Grisau sy'n arwain iw ei Dy,' addressed to Mr Edward Williams, Fleminston, and endorsed by Iolo Morganwg 'Sion William o St Athan at E. Wm yr hynaf o Drefflemin'.
