Fourteen letters from Bethan Lloyd-Jones to her younger daughter, Ann, who shared the family home in Ealing with her parents during their lifetime, which explains why comparatively few letters exist to and from Ann. The letters describe visits by Dr and Mrs Lloyd-Jones to South Africa in Aug. 1958, Finland in 1966, North America in 1967, and the last preaching tour of the USA, April-Aug. 1969.

Miscellaneous papers including proof copies of Bethan Lloyd-Jones's book Memories of Sandfields 1927-1938 (The Banner of Truth Trust, 1983), together with a typescript copy of most of the third chapter under a slightly different title, 'The Women's Meetings'; a photocopy of a letter, 1969, which contains an English translation by Dr Lloyd-Jones of the well-known Welsh hymn, 'Rho im yr hedd' (Elfed), and an inventory of sermon texts preached by her husband, possibly at Aberavon.

The 2003 donation comprises two letters, 1926, from E. T. Rees, Aberavon, relating to Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones's call to Bethlehem Forward Movement Church, Sandfields, Aberavon; papers relating to his honeymoon in 1927 spent in Torquay; diary for 1932 with Sunday engagements, 1932-1939 (entries for 1936-1939 noted); diary for 1937 recording preaching engagements with advance arrangements for 1938; his address 'The eternal verities' given at the Albert Hall, [1935]; three numbers of Y Drysorfa, 1943, including his BBC broadcasts 'Crefydd a nodweddion cenedlaethol'; sermon notes, 1966-1967, based on the New Testament written on the back of letters; personalia from his school and medicine days, including his membership card, 1913-1914, for Cymdeithas Ddiwylliadol Llangeitho, and press cuttings relating to his ministry, [mainly 1930s].

The first group of papers, [c. 1927]-[1987] (1-72), which were received in November 1999, comprise sermon notes, correspondence, diaries, medical notebooks and press cuttings of reviews of books written by Dr D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones and about him. They also include the papers of his widow Dr Bethan Lloyd-Jones comprising letters received by her during her husband's illness and hospital treatment in 1968; letters to her daughters while on preaching tours in the USA and South Africa; letters of sympathy following his death in 1981; and papers relating to her book Memories of Sandfields 1927-1938 published in 1983. -- The additional papers, 1913-[1967], donated in February 2003 (no. 73), comprise miscellaneous papers including sermon notes, 1966-1967, personalia and press cuttings.

The August 2008 donation (unlisted) comprises holograph sermons, 1927-38, preached by the Reverend Dr David Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981) during his first pastorate at Bethlehem Forward Movement Church, Sandfields, Port Talbot, with some in the hand of his wife, Dr Bethan Lloyd-Jones; see Bethan Lloyd-Jones, Memories of Sandfields (Edinburgh, 1983) and D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Evangelistic sermons at Aberavon (Edinburgh, 1983). Also included is a manuscript history of the cause at Sandfields entitled 'A brief outline of Sandfield [sic] Church and its Ministry from 1897 to 1938'.

The May 2011 donation comprises mainly newspaper cuttings collated by Dr D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, some referring directly to himself, other cuttings he took from papers etc relating to the ecumenical scene etc. One handwritten page is full of numbers - the record he kept of the hymns sung (from Congregational Praise) over a lengthy period at Westminster Chapel. This group remains uncatalogued.

Holograph sermons, 1927-1938, preached by the Reverend Dr David Martyn Lloyd-Jones during his first pastorate at Bethlehem Forward Movement Church, Sandfields, Port Talbot, with some in the hand of his wife, Dr Bethan Lloyd-Jones.

Press cuttings

The 2011 donation comprises of a folder and a scrapbook of press cuttings, 1948-1978, collated by the Revd Dr D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones of articles by him and those concerning his ministry and interests. Also included is a page consisting of a list of hymn numbers from 1961 to 1967, which is presumably a record he kept of the hymns sung at Westminster Chapel; and a copy of a Report of Inaugural Meeting of the Glasgow Evangelistic Campaign held at St. Andrew’s Hall, Glasgow, 4 October 1943, where he gave an address.

The 2016 donation comprises of copies of typescript reports of sermons preached at Westminster Chapel, London, 1948-1952 and 1961-1964, by the Revd Dr D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, on the Epistle to the Hebrews, with manuscript emendations in preparation for the sermons to be published.
