An incomplete Biblical concordance compiled by, and in the hand of, Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'). The work comprises only the books of Genesis, Exodus, and in some instances Leviticus.

Tune book, watermarks 1812, of Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd', 1795-1855), containing psalm-tunes, hymn-tunes and anthems. The volume includes 'Ton y Meudwy wedi ei hysgrifenu a phwyntel gan E. Evans ai hadysgrifo mor gywir ac y gellio ac inc gan G Cowlyd' (ff. 23 verso-24 recto).

A volume made up of fourteen letters, 1819-1851, from John Jones (Tegid or Ioan Tegid, 1792-1852), Oxford and later Nevern, to various correspondents. The details are as follows: six letters, 1819-1826, to the Rev. Thomas Richards, Berriew (the education of the addressee's brother and of E. Evans [probably 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'], a 'cywydd' on the death of Mrs Bosanquet, literary matters, adverse criticism from the bishop of Llandaff [William van Mildert] of a proof-sheet of the edition of the Welsh Prayer Book which the writer had undertaken to superintend); four letters, 1820-1824, to the Rev. David Richards, Llansilin (the education of the addressee's younger brother [Lewis], literary matters, the addressee's marriage, etc.); one letter, 1839, to Miss Angharad Lloyd [sic] (the Liber Landavensis is now in the press, he has completed his Welsh version of Isaiah direct from the Hebrew); one letter, 1846, to Owen Williams, Waenfawr (literary matters, criticism of the addressee's proposed 'Vocabulary'); one letter, 1851, to [Ebenezer Thomas] Eben Fardd (re. adjudicating the 'pryddestau' on 'Golygfa Moses &c'); and one letter, 1850, to the Rev. Richard Richards [Meifod] (he is glad to hear of the addressee's success, a proposed monument to Bishop William Morgan and the Rev. Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) at Llanrhaiadr yn Mochnant, plans for a commentary in Welsh on the Epistle to the Galatians etc.). Also included in the volume are extracts, 1845, from a manuscript of Rowland Hugh 'o'r Graienyn ger y Bala' ('Brawd Nain Ioan Tegid o du ei fam oedd Rowland Hugh'), transcripts of two letters, the originals of which are to be found in Peniarth MS 11, viz. a letter, 1847, from [John Jones] Tegid, Nevern to the Lady Charlotte E. Y dôn yw blodau'r dyffryn' by Edward Charles is the following postscript, - 'Gresyn na fyddai beirdd Cymry yn 'r oes hon yn canu ar yr hên Geingciau cymreig fel y pennillion hyn: mae'nt hwyth[a]u yn barddoni y rhan fynycha, a'r ryw Geingciau seisnig, yr hyn sydd hollol anghyttun a pheroriaeth y Cymro'. On one of the fly-leaves is an imperfect list of correspondents in the hand of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), with additions in the hand of J. H. Davies.

A volume containing copies in the autograph of Owen Jones ('Manoethwy') of twenty letters, 1824-35, from John Blackwell ['Alun'], writing from Mold, Oxford, Berriew, Kerry, Holywell and Cardigan, chiefly to [the Reverend Thomas] Richards, Berriew and Llangynyw, and, to a lesser extent, to John Hamer, the Reverend Lewis Richards, Berriew, the Reverend E. Davies, Llan merewig and the Reverend Thomas Richards, Darowen. Two of the letters written from Oxford to the Reverend Lewis Richards contain letters also from John Antes La Trobe and J. Hamer in the one instance and J. Hamer in the other. Other items include a copy of a list of subscribers towards the education of John Blackwell of Mold, 1824, and copies of two other letters -, one, 1823, from R[ichard] Richards to his brother, [Thomas] Richards, Berriew, the other, 1827, from Evan Evans, ('Glan Geirionydd'), Christleton to Mr Richards, Llangynyw [i.e. Thomas Richards]. Some of the letters and the list of subscribers have been printed in Adgof Uwch Anghof. Some of the original letters are in Cwrtmawr MSS 74 and 872 and the list of subscribers is in Cwrtmawr MS 869.

An exercise book containing material [?collected by D. E. Jenkins for his book Bedd Gelert, its Facts, Fairies, and Folk-Lore (Portmadoc, 1899)], including extracts from the vestry book of the parish of Beddgelert [co. Caernarvon], 1804-1884, from [William] Williams: Observations on the Snowdon Mountains . . . (1802), and from [E. L. Barnwell:] 'Beudy Newydd, Nantmor [co. Caernarvon], Roman halting-place', Arch[aeologia] Camb[rensis], 1878; notes on an ancient Roman fort found near the pass of Aberglaslyn; a transcript of the words of the song 'Bugeiles y Wyddfa' [by John Jones ('Eos Bradwen')], with an English translation; and an English version, under the title 'The Shepherd of Cwm Dyli and his sweetheart', [of the Reverend Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd')'s poem 'Rhiangerdd Bugail Cwmdyli']. A 'poetical' exercise book of W. J. Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') largely containing annotated transcripts of 'englynion' and other verses of the period 1820-1830 by Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'), William Jones ('Gwilym Cawrdaf'), Rowland Parry ('Ieuan Carn Dochan'), [William Williams] ('Gwilym Cyfeiliog'), Henry Griffith ('Hare Goch o Wynedd'), and Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'). The collection is based on information received from Mary Richards ('Mair Risiart'), Darowen Vicarage, and contains copious extracts from 'Y Begeryn', being a manuscript in her possession containing impromptu verses by visiting poets, etc. The volume also contains transcripts of two letters, the one from J[ohn] Parry ['Bardd Alaw'] to the Reverend T[homas] Richards, Aberrhiw, 1822 (the success of Evan Evans ['Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'] as candidate for North Wales for a medal), and the other from Evan Evans ['Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'] to the Reverend T[homas] Richards, Caerwys [1816] (the recipient's promotion to the living of Caerwys, etc.); a list of books bought of the administrator of W[illiam] L[ewis] Walker [rector of Trefriw], 1863; and poetry by 'Gwilym Cowlyd' partly described as 'Y Ffetan Ysmaldod'.

There are also copies of two short letters to Evan Evans from Roderick Lewis, Trefeglwys, and William Howell, Llanidloes, which were written on the same sheet as Edward Richard's letter of 1 March 1766. A transcript of a letter from Edward Richard, 1766, to Richard Morris (from BM Add MS 15025), and extracts from letters from Edward Richard to Lewis Morris, 1759 and undated (from BM Add MS 15029). A holograph letter from Edward Richard, Ystradmeuryg, 1762, to Lewis Morris, Penbryn (published in Hugh Owen, op. cit. Part II, pp. 562-3). File 5: A holograph letter from [the Reverend] W[illiam] Davies, Llanwryn [Montgomeryshire], 1710, to Henry Newman at the Reverend Mr Shute's in Bartlet's Buildings, London (receipt of letter and a packet from the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, subscriptions from other parishes, has partly prevailed with a certain minister to become a corresponding member). The letters are addressed to John Roberts ('Sion Lleyn'), Pwllheli (4), 1791-1806 (corrections to addressee's poetry, tributes to writer's brother, Humphrey, after his death, some short poetical compositions by the writer), to Griffith Williams ('Gutyn Peris'), Llandygai (8), 1799-1819, (poetry, subjects upon which writer desired addressee to compose hymns, meetings of bards and eisteddfodau, comments and news of contemporary poets, writer's health and work), and one letter, addressee not named, 1804, (addressee's poetry which writer had received, desires addressee to render 2 Samuel XXII in strict metres and to ask other poets to do the same). There are also two letters from [Sir] C[harles] B[eaumont] Phipps, Windsor Castle, for H.M. The Queen, to Charles Hughes, publisher, Wrexham, 1863.
Among the subjects discussed, apart from 'Owain Alaw's musical interests and the dedication of his publications, are 'Gwallter Mechain's letters (by Jane Davies) and the proposed biography of Hugh Jones ('Erfyl) (by Morris Davies). Also included among the letters is a printed song - 'The Welcome Home, sung by the children of the Rhos-y-Medre and Rhosllanerchrugog National Schools on the occasion of the birth of an heiress to the noble House of Wynnstay', 1865.
