Memorandum book,

A memorandum book kept by William Williams (Gwilym Cyfeiliog) in his capacity as Assistant Overseer, recording payments of rates, arrears, etc., in the district of Llanbrynmair, 1867-1870. It also contains brief notes of Elders' meetings of Bontdolgadfan CM Chapel, 1835-1836. English; Welsh.

Two thin exercise books containing (a) A treatise on Safle Cenedl y Cymry yn mhlith Cenedloedd y Ddaear, 1857, and (b) St Paul's voyage to Rome: a metrical version. At the opposite end, are notes of sermons by the Rev. Owen Thomas, Newtown, the Rev. Thomas Hughes, [ Machynlleth?], etc. Welsh.

John James Family Bible,

The Book of Common Prayer, Old and New Testaments, Apocrypha, Metrical Psalms of Edmwnd Prys, and various tables, &c., all printed at Oxford, 1809, and bound together in one vol. This was the family Bible of the Rev. John James, Baptist Minister at Aberystwyth, Pontrhydyryn, and Bridgend, and it contains notes and genealogical memoranda written (in English) in his hand. An eighteenth century student's commonplace book, containing notes on theological, scientific and historical subjects, quotations from the classical authors, and abridgments of various works, etc. Typical entries are 'Experiments by Mr Carmichael, which I saw at Glasgow','An abridgment of Tullys Offices'. Inside the cover, in another hand: 'John Morgan his Book Bought of Humphrey Humphreys Carrier at Machynlleth April 21st 1800'. English; Latin; Greek.
