Committee of Inquiry on Bilingual Road Signs

The file comprises correspondence and papers, 1972, relating to the proceedings and report of the Committee of Inquiry on Bilingual Road Signs chaired by Dr Roderic Bowen. It includes letters from Dr Gwynfor Evans, Peter Thomas MP (later the Lord Thomas of Gwydir) and Dafydd Williams, general secretary of Plaid Cymru.

Inscriptions including 'ogham diaries',

Forty three notebooks, 1873-1915, the majority of which are numbered and labelled with a list of contents, recording inscribed stones examined by John Rhŷs mostly in Wales, the Isle of Man, Scotland, and Ireland. They contain descriptions of his journeys, of stones and inscriptions, folklore and other related notes. Also included are unbound diaries of 'ogham hunts', 1883-1899.

Various festivals,

A small group of correspondence relating to the following festivals: Abertawe Festival for Young Musicians, 1992-1993, relating to his role as President; Lower Machen Festival, 1998-1999, relating to a performance of 'One must always have love'; and Swansea Festival, 1984, relating to an invitation to conduct 'The sun, the great luminary of the universe'.

Daeth y gyfrol hon i feddiant William Theeling pan ymunodd â'r Rechabiaid yn 1844 ym mhabell Padarn. Roedd hefyd yn aelod o babell St. David yn 1844. = The volume was acquired by William Theeling when he joined the Rechabites in 1844 at the Padarn Lodge. He was also a member of the St. David's Lodge from 1844.

Estate infrastructure,

Papers relating to estate infrastructure at Cefn Cribwr, 1771-1785, including notes on the state of the roads at the forge; plans for two new canals at the forge and at a small colliery nearby; and some notes on stirring canals, improving meadows by mixing canal soils and lime, and on mending a broken dam. The file also contains pages from various booklets on water wheels and troughs; justifications for using one water wheel at Cefn Cribwr; and a printed plan of the canal from Coventry to Oxford, 1771.

Photocopies of the diary of John Evan Price, born 1817 in Llandeilo'r-fân, Breconshire, and of the diary of Daniel E. Price, Missionary to Wales,1895-1897, resident of Samaria, Idaho, Malad Valley. The diaries were transcribed from the originals under the supervision of Esther J. Carpenter in 1960.
