Typescript copies of poems, some drafts, for Letter from a far country (Manchester, 1982), together with correspondence and other papers relating to the book, 1981-1984, with a copy of the agreement between author and publisher. In addition, the file contains letters regarding permission to use poems by Gillian Clarke, most of which appear to have been included in the volume, in other publications. Among the correspondents are Fred Jones (4); Enid Luff; and Peter Forbes. -- The file also includes a script containing manuscript notes of the radio ode 'Letter from a far country', written and read by Gillian Clarke, 1979; together with manuscript and typescript drafts of the poem and related correspondence, 1978-1979.

Manuscript drafts and typescript copies, some drafts, 1993, of poems by Gillian Clarke some of which were pieces commissioned to accompany an exhibition of sculpture at Oriel Mostyn, 1993, and subsequently published in Alchemica (Llandudno, 1993). Also included is a typescript copy of the poem 'In Hermits Wood for Anna', 1991, and photocopies of the poems 'Rhiannon' and 'Pwyll' published in Barn, 1978.

Notebooks,

The file compries notebooks, most of which contain manuscript drafts of both published and unpublished poems by Gillian Clarke, including part of 'Letter from a far country', 'Cofiant', 'Storm: Pwyll & Rhiannon', and pieces for The sundial, Five fields, The Animal Wall, and Nine green gardens. Some poems and notes appear to have been written during workshops. Also included are some drafts of prose works; plots and notes for stories; and notes pertaining to The Anglo-Welsh Review.

The King of Britain's daughter,

Papers, [?1978], 1990-1991, mostly manuscript and typescript drafts of poems, relating to The King of Britain's daughter (Manchester, 1993), including the title work. The file also contains two letters, 1993-1994, from Tony Curtis inviting Gillian Clarke to contribute to the book How poets work (Bridgend, c.1996).

Typescript copies of commissioned poems (with notes to assist the reading) written and read by Gillian Clarke at Equilibre performances, Machynlleth, 1994, together with a programme of the event. The file also includes printed copies and typescript drafts of poems, including 'Spores', a translation by Gillian Clarke of the poem 'De Sporen', and 'Keeping the Seed Alive', written during a workshop for poets at the Poetry International festival, Rotterdam, 1995; and photocopies relating to Hafod, being research for a poem about the mansion.
