Original bundle comprising conditions of sale (numbered 1-11) signed by the purchasers of the 13 lots of Scott Gate (120a.), p. Above Derwent (and ancient p. of Crosthwaite) sold at auction, 12 March 1921, and contracts, 1920-1921, for the sale of land in p. Underskiddaw, including Millbeck Hall (1,659a.) and Low Grove (64a.), and in p. Applethwaite, all in co. Cumberland. Plans attached to no’s 7-9 and 11.

Original bundle of draft deeds (numbered 1-15) relating to the sale of properties in the ancient p. of Crosthwaite, Cumberland, including Millbeck Hall farm and estate (1539a.) and Low Grove Farm (64a.) in the civil p. of Underskiddaw, and Scott Gate Farm (18a.), Bog House (80a.) and a joiner’s shop (formerly a tithe barn) in the civil p. of Above Derwent. Some at least of the properties were lots 4-5, 10-11 and 13 in the Scott Gate Farm auction, 12 March 1921. Plans attached to no’s 7 and 10.

Loose papers, including draft abstracts of title, 1921, printed particulars of Ormathwaite Hall (3a.) and Ormathwaite Farm (150a.), to be sold by auction, 1922, and an abstract of a grant (1856) of licences to the Keswick Waterworks Co. to take water and make a reservoir, 1923. Two second edition Ordnance Survey Cumberland maps, the twenty-five inch sheet LXIV.1 (1899) and the six inch sheet LXVII SE (1900), have been transferred to the Department of Pictures and Maps (acc. nos 0200008298 and 8301).

Original file of letters relating to the tithes on Lord Ormathwaite’s Cumberland estates, mainly relating to the tithe rentcharge in the parish of Crosthwaite under the Tithe Act 1936.

Admissions in the manors of Newnhams Lakes and Aylands, and Warfield,

Original bundle of deeds re. the admission of Albert Mott to properties in the manor of Newnhams Lakes and Aylands and in the manor of Warfield, all Berkshire, and his surrender of the same (mortgage for £33,726) to Andrew Montague of Inghamthorpe Hall, Wetherby, Yorkshire, esq., all 1892, and the admission of Lord Ormathwaite to the same properties, and George Denison, lord Wittenham’s warrant to enter satisfaction for the receipt of the said £33,726, all 1921-22.

Original bundle of deeds re. the Warfield Park estate, mainly tenancy agreements, but also including agreements for shooting over the estate and the sale of timber, a deed of exchange and an employer’s liability insurance policy. They also include a draft agreement between Lord Ormathwaite and D. E. R. Griffith of Highbury, Llanyre, Samuel Morson of The Pines, Llanyre, and Captain Savours, manager of the National & Provincial Bank, Llandrindod, for sporting over 2,703a. of the Radnorshire estate.
