Gwilym [ ], University College of North Wales, Bangor. Thanks for Huw T. Edwards's letter relating to the application of J. Lewis to gain admission to the College. Will do his best for the boy, but there are major difficulties. There are long waiting lists for admission to both the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science. Welsh.

W. H. Roberts, 52 Mouthesmen Road, Cardiff. Writes in appreciation of Huw T. Edwards's bravery in turning his back on the party which was so close to his heart for so many years. The writer voted for the Labour Party throughout his life, but did so in order to keep out the Conservatives. Can vote for Plaid Cymru at the next election. Welsh.

R. J. Brynner Griffith, The Pines, Newtown, Montgomeryshire. Wishes to congratulate Huw T. Edwards on joining Plaid Cymru. This action has made it clear to everyone that Wales has the most prominent place in Huw T. Edwards's heart. Position, office and honour are not all important to Huw T. Edwards, but rather his love for Wales which has made him refuse numerous honours. Welsh.

Harri Samuel, Y Mans, Rhaeadr, Radnorshire. Thanks to Huw T. Edwards for the fateful step which he took recently. No true Welshman has any alternative. Has admired Huw T. Edwards's dedication and sincerity for years, and his bold leadership will certainly be a great boost to the nationalist movement in Wales. Many would like to see Huw T. Edwards as the first Prime Minister of the Free Wales. Had a conversation recently with Kinsey Morgan; he was not in the least surprised at Huw T. Edwards's action. Welsh.

Morris G. Roberts, Barmouth Advertiser and District Weekly News, Advertiser Office, Barmouth. Hopes that Huw T. Edwards will not resign as Chairman of the Welsh Tourist Board on any account. He has been very highly respected during the whole time he has been its chairman. If he resigned, it would be a calamity. No one else could fill the chairmanship. His son's writings for the Daily Press, and his half column in the Daily Post and Echo the previous evening in support of an Evans candidate. The writer will be at Shrewsbury on Wednesday.

Caradog [ ], Islwyn, Trelogan, Treffynnon. After listening to Ronald Waterhouse at Ffynnon-groyw the previous Saturday afternoon, the writer has decided that it is best for him to remain within the Labour Party. Feels greater love for humanity then for Wales. Although he agrees with many Plaid Cymru policies, there are numerous factors which prevent him from joining. Thanks for Huw T. Edwards's kind words, and wishes him well in the election. Welsh.

Henry Brooke, Minister for Welsh Affairs, Whitehall, London SW1. Thanks to Huw T. Edwards and the Welsh Tourist and Holidays Board for the kindness and hospitality received at Llangollen on the previous Friday night. Felt that it was a particularly happy occasion, and that Llangollen fully deserved the tributes paid to it. Was pleased to meet Huw T. Edwards again.

T. H. P[arry]-w[illiams], Wern, North Road, Aberystwyth. It was most pleasant to meet and talk with Huw T. Edwards recently. Thought that Huw T. Edwards might like to receive a copy of an English book which the writer published some years previously. Only a few friends have previously been given copies. The volume contains English sonnets which he wrote during 1919-20. This was the time when he had resigned and had enrolled for a course in medicine with the intention of becoming a doctor. Most of the sonnets have a sad note, but they are totally sincere. Has not seen a review of Tros F'Ysgwydd. Welsh.

E. B. Miller, 33 Cadle Street, Llangollen. Was sorry to see that Huw T. Edwards intends resigning from the chair of the Welsh Tourist Board in a year's time. Understands Huw T. Edwards's wish to devote more time to writing poetry, but hopes that the people of Wales will not be so petty that they will allow the Tourist Board to suffer because of Huw T. Edwards's political activities. The writer is not a member of Plaid Cymru, but he would defend Huw T. Edwards's right to be a member. Huw T. Edwards is held in great respect and affection by the Welsh people, a respect that transcends party differences. No one believes that Huw T. Edwards should confine his political activities because he occupies the chair of the Welsh Tourist Board. Realises that Huw T. Edwards has a very large number of commitments, but the Tourist Board will have need of his wisdom and experience during the year ahead. To have a national figure like Huw T. Edwards in the chair is, therefore, essential. Has much enjoyed Y Faner during recent weeks.

M[ ], Aeron, Brithnewydd, Trealaw, Rhondda. Should have asked for the address of Rhydwen and Margaret Williams. Is their new home at Rhyl? Hopes that Margaret's health has now improved. Does not know very much about athletics. Much enjoyed the seiat the other evening, and the opportunity which it provided to meet people. Gives news of Megan. Welsh.

Henry Brooke, Minister for Welsh Affairs, Whitehall, London SW1. Regrets that Huw T. Edwards has had to go into hospital, and trusts that he will not be out of action for very long. Encloses a copy of a letter which he has just written to the Chairman of the Welsh Tourist Board. Would much like to have a talk as Huw T. Edwards suggests. 'You really will have to disaffiliate Plaid Cymru branches which pass votes of thanks to Mrs Rachel Jones, as I saw one did the other day!'.

Kate Roberts, Y Cilgwyn, Denbigh. Regrets the delay in writing. Ever since she returned from Malta and Rome, she has been fully preoccupied by the novels for the Prose Medal for the Rhos National Eisteddfod. Was very sorry to learn of the illness which Huw T. Edwards suffered at Cardiff, and hopes that the doctors at Llandough were able to treat him successfully. Huw T. Edwards really needs to rest, but it is difficult to persuade people who have always led busy lives of that necessity. Going on the Continent was a blessing for the writer; she will never forget the experiences which she had. Welsh.
