Legal precedents.

A portion of a collection of precedents made, apparently, late in the seventeenth century, and in continuation of MS 72. A few references in the very scanty index prefixed to the volume show that the work did not end with this volume, as pages which number above 2000 are recorded.

Legal precedents.

A book of legal precedents and a short law dictionary in the making, together with extracts from Year Books.

Legal precedents.

The volume is described as Henry Wynn's 'Booke of Presidents', and contains precedents for conveyances, bonds, letters of attorney, petitions, appointments, etc. Some of the examples relate to Wales, and include copies of documents referring to Sir Richard Wynn of Gwydir, and the appointment of Henry Wynn to be Solicitor-General to Queen Henrietta Maria, 28 Jan. 1639/40. There are some additions in the same hand as MS 72.

Chancery jurisdiction.

A vindication of the judgement given by King James I in the case of the jurisdiction of the Court of Chancery, that the lord Chancellor should not desist to give relief in equity notwithstanding any proceedings at the common law.

Records of the Gwydir family.

An account of Meredith Wynn ap Evan ap Robert and his descendants signed by H[umphrey Humphreys, bishop of] Bangor, 1700, and taken out of the collection of Sir Thomas ap William; copies of inscriptions on tombs and memorials of members of the Gwydir family in Llanrwst, Dolwyddelan, and Penmorva, and a copy of the 'matches & coats of Armes that are on the walls within the Inner Chamber over the Gate house at the lower house of Gwyder taken in July 1690, by Mr Watkin Owen'.

Legal precedents and miscellaneous notes.

A collection of precedents partly taken from North Wales cases, e.g. at Anglesey Sessions, 1618-1620; legal notes; notes on the Old Testament; tables of assessments upon the several commotes of Merioneth; a table of French kings, 420-1589; a copy of the charter of North Wales; pedigrees of the commote of Menai; notes on geography; pedigrees of the Rhiwgoch, Nannau and Corsygedol families written, apparently, by Ellis Lloyd of Rhiwgoch, who may have written the greater part of the volume. Ellis Lloyd was the father-in-law of Henry Evan whose name is written on the fly-leaf.

Rentals.

Particulars of the third part of Lloydiarth House allotted to Lady Palmer by the Court of Wards and Liverios, with a rental of the demesnes; rental of the third part of the lands and tenements in wardship during the minority of Herbert Vaughan, son and heir of Sir Robert Vaughan, deceased; particulars of Lady Palmor's third part of Egluseg House and a rental of the demesnes; particular of the first and second parts of Lloydiarth House and the demesnes thereof, allotted to the Right Hon. William Lord Powys, and a rental of the first and second parts of the lands and tenements in wardship as aforesaid.

Caurs records.

A continuation of the register of documents relating to the lordship of Caurs.

Heraldry.

Fragments of a manuscript description of arms, with coloured shields of some of the Fifteen Tribes of North Wales and other founders of families.

Bibliography.

A list of books on Grammar, Rhetoric, Arithmetic, Geography, Astronomy, Philosophy, Politics, Husbandry, Poetry, History, Law, Medicine, etc. The list was compiled after 1656.

Scriptural & theological dictionary.

The volume is divided into sections from A to Z and each section is indicated by a vellum tab marked with the letter which begins on that page, and is preceded by an alphabetical index to the subjects represented within it. The dictionary is far from being complete, and its appearance suggests the work of William Maurice of Llansilin, though his name does not occur in the manuscript.

Instructions to the Earl of Carbery.

A copy of the instructions given by Charles II to Richard Lord Vaughan, Earl of Carbery, as President of the Council in Wales and the Marches, 9 September 1661.

Legal precedents.

A collection of legal precedents arranged from 2-14 Hen. VII, with references to several authors and compilers of reports. It appears to have been compiled towards the end of the seventeenth century.

Legal precedents.

Copies of the following cases (c.1660-1665) with arguments thereon: Manby v. Scott (indebitatus assumpsit); Berry v. White (ejectment); Poole v. Haskey (trespass and ejectment), case only; and Mayor of Colchester v. Goodwin (debt).

Legal precedents.

This collection of legal precedents has been written in a legal hand and the most noteworthy feature is the large number of examples of pleadings taken from Herefordshire cases.

History of the Gwydir Family.

A copy of Sir John Wynn's 'History of the Gwydir family', with some annotations by Humphrey Humphreys (1648-1712), bishop of Bangor and afterwards of Hereford. The History is preceded by pedigrees of the families of Bulkley, Wynn, Lloyd of Rhiwgoch, Evans of Watstay, and Eyton of Ruabon, in the same hand as the text.
