Roberts containing press cuttings of a series of articles entitled 'Hanes Offeiriaid Plwyfi Esgobaeth Bangor' by Richard Rhys Hughes, vicar of Glanogwen, Caernarfonshire, published in Y Llan, August 1937-January 1940, together with cards, photographs and engravings, [mid-19 cent.]-[1930s], mostly of churches within the diocese of Bangor, pasted in on f. xiv verso, pp. 105, 180, 184 and 186; and a transcript with an English translation, 1931, by Richard Rhys Hughes of 'Awdl y caws' by Deio ab Ieuan Du from Peniarth MS 99 pasted in on p. 182.

A volume containing notes, [c. 1936]-[c. 1938], by R. D. Roberts and his cousin, Arthur Foulkes-Roberts, on some of the books previously in the library of their grandfather, John Foulkes, Llechryd, Llanefydd, Denbighshire, including details relating to the provenance of the books; also included are memoranda relating to the families of Foulkes of Llechryd and Roberts of Foxhall, Henllan, Denbighshire. Letters, 1936, from A. Foulkes-Roberts to R. D. Roberts are tipped in on pp. 3 and 5.

Roberts, Hamilton, Canada, to John Jones, Bethesda, 1925 (deploring the difficulty of getting copies of musical compositions from Wales) (letter-head of Hamilton Eisteddfod); and transcripts of correspondence between Benjamin Evans, Bangor, clerk to the Aethwy Rural District Council, and C. Pasted in on pp. 6, 38, 66 and 150 and between pp. 152 and 153 are cards, photographs and engravings, [mid-19 cent.]-[1930s], mostly of churches within the diocese of Bangor. An index is added (pp. 180-181) in the hand of the compiler.

The first of two volumes containing copies of Notes & Catalogue for the Flintshire & Denbighshire Historical Exhibition held at Rhyl, 23-25 April 1902, with notes added in the hand of R. D. Roberts. Press cuttings, 1899-1939, relating to Flintshire and Denbighshire, and letters (3), 1902-1915, to R. D. Roberts, including one, 1914, from Willoughby Gardner (f. 1v), are pasted or tipped into the volume.

A volume compiled, [c. 1936]-1939, by R. D. Roberts, containing abstracts of wills, 1564-1652, of persons living in Llannefydd, Denbighshire, together with a first name index (pp. 163-77), and related pedigrees (pp. 178-89).

Scrap-album

A scrap-album compiled, [1930s], by R. D. Roberts, containing press cuttings, bookplates and other printed items, [late 18 cent.]-1939, relating mostly to Abergele, with notes added by the compiler, pasted or tipped in on two copies, bound together, of Adelaide Anne Procter, Legends and Lyrics (London, 1888). The press cuttings consist mainly of a series of articles entitled 'After many years' by Thomas Jesse Jones, rector of Gelli-gaer, Glamorganshire, published in the Abergele and Pensarn Visitor, October 1928-March 1929, and which had previously been published in the same newspaper, 1924-1925. A letter, 1931, to R. D. Roberts from Sarah Elizabeth Jones, Llwyn, Llanbadarn Fawr, Cardiganshire, concerning the content of the articles, is tipped in on p. 92.

Included are bills, 1842-1860, from local doctors and a chemist (pp. 46a-47, 110), and press cuttings from The Free Press, 4-18 February 1911, of a series of articles by A. Foulkes-Roberts entitled 'Denbigh Archives' (pp. 3-31).

Life of Sir Robert Jones

A copy of Frederick Watson, The Life of Sir Robert Jones (London, 1934), which was given to R. D. Roberts by the author in September 1934 in recognition of the help he received in preparing the work (see f. i), with notes by R. D. Roberts and press cuttings, 1933-1938, relating to Sir Robert Jones added or tipped in on pp. 1-321 passim and inside back cover. Also included are notes and press cuttings, 1934-1938, relating to Jones's uncle and mentor, the osteopath Hugh Owen Thomas (pp. 10, 12, 28, 84, 320-1, 329), and Dame Agnes Gwendoline Hunt (inside front cover, p. 120).

Ancient and modern Denbigh

A partially interleaved copy of John Williams (Glanmor), Ancient and Modern Denbigh ... (Denbigh, 1856), with an index by R. D. Roberts (between pp. 356-7) and historical and genealogical notes in his hand in the margins and on many of the interleaves. Photographs, bookplates, press cuttings and other printed items, [late 18 cent.]-1938, relating to Denbigh, together with a letter, 1922, to R. D. Roberts from John Hubert Aloysius Dormer (between pp. 36-37), are pasted or tipped in the volume.

A volume containing the printer's typescript copy, 1935, with revisions in the hand of the author and notes by the compositor, of Henry Edmund Theodoric Vale, The World of Wales (London, 1935); a water-colour of Nant Ffrancon, Caernarvonshire by the author's wife, Ruth Vale, is pasted on f. 2, and nine pictures of Welsh castles, mostly extracted from newspapers, are pasted or tipped in on ff. 117v, 202v-243v, passim. Two letters, 1937, from Henry Edmund Theodoric Vale and Ruth Vale are tipped in on ff. ii and 1.
