Papers relating to the life and career of Edward Morgan Humphreys, including letters to E. Morgan Humphreys, from several prominent Welsh figures, 1900x1955, relating to professional matters, such as his articles and contributions to newspapers, requests for articles, radio talks, addresses, literary works, public appointments, his involvement with the eisteddfod and various committees; together with some letters relating to personal affairs, politics and literary matters and letters written to him in his role as an editor; miscellaneous and family ('Dyffryn') correspondence, which are mostly letters of the families of E. Morgan Humphreys' great-grandfather, the Rev Richard Humphreys, and of his grandfather, the Rev Edward Morgan, [1800]x1953; articles, radio scripts and addresses by E. Morgan Humphreys, 1902x1955; together with some personal and family papers, 1841x1955; articles, poetry, adjudications and letters to the editor of Y Genedl etc., by T. Gwynn Jones, 1890x1949; and other miscellaneous papers accumulated by E. Morgan Humphreys, [1762]x1955. Some of the family correspondence was published in 'Some Nineteenth Century Letters', in The Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, 1925-1926.

Proposals and arrangements for various contributions by EMH to the Liverpool Daily Post, including an interview with [David] Lloyd George on his 70th birthday [A/10-11], and articles on what has happened in Wales during King George [V]'s reign for the paper's Silver Jubilee Supplement [A/15], and Alderman William George [A/17]. Sends him a letter from Capt. J. C. Wynne-Edwards responding to comments made by "Celt", in his 'Welsh Survey' column, on recruiting methods [A/18-18a].

The writer has read EMH's remarks on Y Beirniad and states his opinion of the new school of poets, and of Cofiant Emrys ab Iwan [A/51]. RB congratulates EMH on his appointment as editor of Y Goleuad [A/52-3], and gives an account of his journey to Alexandria [A/53]. He discusses the political situation in Britain and the drama competition at the National Eisteddfod, and also asks EMH to correct the proofs of an article and poem that he has sent for publication in Cymru [A/54]. The writer congratulates EMH on Y Goleuad, and encloses a tribute to the late David Jenkins [A/56]. Robert Bryan has not seen [T.] Gwyn[n Jones's] book on Welsh literature. He regrets the adverse influence that Germany has had on learning and education, and encloses recollections of Sir Edward Anwyl and Sir John Rhys [A/57]. Chwilog. He praises Y Genedl [A/112],. And EMH's interesting talk, and encloses details about his family history [A/113]. D.H. Davies comments on the world situation during 1942, and also the change in farming life, after listening to EMH's radio talk on the subject [A/114]. Welsh.

Bangor. The writer will do his best to answer EMH's question as to the Parliamentary Bill, and would be grateful if he would refer to the Report of the Commitee of the Reorganising Commission [A/122]. He appreciates EMH's efforts to obtain a pension for 'Anthropos' [Rev. R. D. Rowland], and comments on his own illness [A/123]. English and Welsh.

Denbigh / Manchester / Liverpool / Bangor / Wrexham. Thanks him for a copy of Y Genedl containing a review of Gwr Pen y Bryn, and explains some points arising from his comments on the book. He does not agree with EMH's remarks regarding Branwen Ferch Llyr [A/124]. E. T. Davies is unable to write an article for EMH due to illness [A/125]. He expresses his views on the attempt to change the name Dyffryn Ardudwy [A/126]. He also states his opinion of the stories submitted to the [Swansea] National Eisteddfod competition, of which he is co-adjudicator with EMH [A/127-8]. He was melancholy after reading his article in the Post on the old ships, and recalls wandering about the Liverpool and Birkenhead docks as a boy.
