There is also a group of the papers of Jenkin Jones, comprising music manuscripts, 1917-1934, correspondence, 1903-1935, an essay, 1935, copyright material, 1916-1917, printed material, 1903-1918, and press cuttings, 1905-1918.

A further small group of papers comprising letters, articles, reviews and programmes were received October 2014. This group was introduced as the final Sub-fonds, entitled 2014 Donation, in January 2016. Also, spool tapes of music and a collection of cassettes were received and transferred to NSSAW.

Two manuscripts: Under Milk Wood score and Fourteen Leider peices were received January 2015. See description for Series A and Series M for further information.

September 2022 purchase: Mainly literary papers of composer and conductor Daniel Jenkyn Jones, comprising both early unpublished poetry and prose by Daniel Jones and material relating to later published literary works, almost all of which relate to Jones's friend and early literary collaborator, poet and writer Dylan Thomas, which were either written or edited by, or produced with input from, Daniel Jones. The collection also includes a significant amount of material relating to Daniel Jones's incidental music and song settings composed as an accompaniment to Dylan Thomas's 'play for voices' 'Under Milk Wood' (1954), correspondence and press cuttings relating to Daniel Jones's literary and musical career and to his relationship with Dylan Thomas, and a few miscellaneous items, some of which relate to Dylan Thomas, including photographs of Dylan Thomas's former girlfriend, the novelist, playwright, poet and literary and social critic Pamela Hansford Johnson.

November 2022 purchase: Manuscript music score of Daniel Jones's Prelude: 'A Refusal to Mourn', a piece for organ commissioned by the Swansea branch of the Dylan Thomas Society to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of Dylan Thomas's death.

Letter from Mir Jafar

Refers to his 'dear brother' Sayyid Muhammad Kazim Khan Bahadur travelling from Azimabad [i.e. Patna], to a letter from Nawab Vazir al-Mamalik, and to arrangements for a great tamasha in Calcutta to mark the opening of the Plassey garden. He also writes of sinking of French equipment and their being afraid of the English army. -- Note at end in Nabob's own hand relating to entry no. 536 in CR8/1 despite inconsistency of dates.

These include letters, 1588-1855, including letters of the Herbert family of Cogan Pill, 1588-1719, but primarily the personal and estate correspondence of John, second marquis of Bute, 1804-1855, (including letters relating to Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire (Kirtling: Lady Bute's property) and County Durham estates); deeds, [1319]-1937; surveys, 1570-1842; rentals of the Glamorgan estate, 1728-1893, and the Cardiff estate, 1842-1895, estate and manorial accounts, 1573-1873; manorial records and deeds of over seventy manors, mainly in Glamorgan, [?1373]-1847; family settlements, [early 17 cent.]-1902; family probate records, 1612-1900; and legal and case papers, 1642-1921; correspondence of Alice, Lady Windsor, 1757-1776; a substantial number of copies of Acts of Parliament, relating mainly to roads, canals, docks and harbours, railways, public works and utilities, 1771-1928; and miscellaneous records. -- The archive illustrates the history of Glamorgan; the corporate life of the boroughs of Cardiff, Cowbridge and Llantrisant; the urbanization of the South Wales valleys, especially Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare; the Glamorgan Commission of the Peace; the county militia and yeomanry, 1815-1837; the development of the coal and other industries (it includes papers relating to minerals and ironworks 16th-early 20th cent., accounts of coal shipped from Neath, etc. 1626-1682, quarry and lime kiln accounts 19th cent. Cardiff railway, dock and harbour papers and plans, 19th-20th cent.); labour and political unrest, including Chartism, Scotch Cattle, Rebecca riots; early trade unions; and the history of Cardiff castle, 16th-19th cent., including inventories 1581, 1585, estimate of repairs 1590 and plans of grounds.
