I have received your request to grant your agent permission to cross our territory with one hundred horses. Your agent who was staying with Mr Preston at the Port of Buxar has been provided with all necessary provisions and asked to stay at the kothi of Katak. Similarly, as a gesture of goodwill, Mr Pleadel [?] who had tried to go through a different and unauthorised route has been forgiven. As Maharajah Januji Bhonsalah is engaged in the suppression of rebellion of indigo and peacock farmers he has instructed to close all borders with other states. These borders will remain closed until the rebellions are completely suppressed. Your agents will then be allowed to move from the port of Buxar and carry on their business as usual

The latest news is that I reached Calcutta with my army on 15 Rabi al-Avval, San 5 and went to see Navab Sabitjang, Masih Jang Bahadur and Diwan Nand Kumar. I explained to them my circumstances in detail and sought their advice in paying back the loans I had obtained to pay the government. They have advised me to settle the loans of the mahajans first. As the repayment of these loans is increasing day by day it is becoming difficult for me to pay the loans back. I seek you help to intervene.

I have written to the Rajah that he should deliver your letter to Nawab Wazir al-Mumalik in private and at the same time get a reply from him and send it to me. I will send this to you without any delay. Meanwhile, if you are writing a reply to Nawab Wazir al-Mumalik's other letter, kindly mention that before taking any decisions he should consult Mr Amherst Sahib. I always perform my duties with dedication and faithfulness and do not receive any orders from anyone but you. Earlier I had informed you about the parwanah issued by Mir Muhammad Jafar Khan with his own seal to Rajah Ram Narayan accusing him of interfering in the administration and revenue collection of Shahjahanpore, and Bhimpore, etc., and how the difficulties of the Rajah were resolved. Before this I had informed you about Khvajah Muhammadi Khan who for seven years was administrator of Nawab Samsam al-Daulah's estate and used to pay the dues of the sarkar.
