Letter from Lord Cawdor, Grosvenor Place, to [Lord Milford]. His son's intended marriage brought him to town. Confesses the inconvenience from his having expended such large sums in political contests made him anxious to apply to Mr. Scarlett for advice. Sends him Scarlett's opinion relating to the Pembroke causes. He thinks that it would not be advisable to proceed with the quo Warranto causes and risk further expense. Has given directions to proceed at the next Hereford Assizes. Is aware recipient would at first reject any arrangement with Sir J. Owen, still thinks he would be less inclined to permit him to remain in full possession of all he has obtained which must be the necessary consequence if no arrangement should take place.
