Title deeds relating to properties mainly in the parishes of Llanynys and Ruthin, but also in other nearby parishes; some had belonged to the Thelwall family of Plas y Ward and others had been purchased by Sir Watkin Williams Wynn in the eighteenth century. Some of the bundles are original, recording the acquisition of the lands in both parishes which formed the core of the Plas y Ward estate in the early fifteenth century and subsequent leases by the Thelwall family. Many of the early deeds for Ruthin supply the names of streets, landmarks and castle officials, showing the development and occupation of the town during the late medieval and Tudor periods.
