Orders for 1/1 Welsh Horse,

Regimental orders issued to 1/1 Welsh Horse, as well as orders issued to the Eastern Mounted Brigade and to the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force as a whole, covering all aspects of military activities, including movement, personnel, equipment, supplies, sanitation, tactics, pay, medical matters, discipline, drills and training, together with reports on operations, statistics from 'C' Squadron relating to casualties, equipment, accounts and logistics, and a 'C' Squadron war diary. Most of the content concerns activities at Gallipoli. Also included is a copy of orders issued to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

Mining operations on Hill 60,

Correspondence, reports and orders relating to the planning and execution of mining operations on Hill 60 during the Gallipoli campaign, including action to be taken in conjunction with the detonation, and congratulations on the successful implementation of the plan.

Unit strengths and casualties at Gallipoli,

Lists of soldiers of the Welsh Horse (Lancers) forming squadrons and subsidiary detachments during the Gallipoli campaign, compiled to indicate the nominal strength of units, together with lists of those killed, wounded or missing, and also a captured medical history sheet relating to Turkish soldiers. Also included are some duplicates, made by Julian Franklyn.

Correspondence relating to the removal of Capt. Ashton from the Welsh Horse because of his 'intemperate habits', his attempt to resign his commission, and the settling of his mess account.

Lieutenant Colonel Leigh,

Correspondence relating to the absence without leave of Lt Col Leigh (Royal East Kent Yeomanry), and questions concerning his subsequent promotion, together with a copy of the proceedings of the Court of Enquiry appointed to investigate the matter.

Officers,

An indexed and bound file of correspondence relating to 25 separate cases involving officers, including resignations, transfers, promotions, discipline, commissions, and reports on health and other matters.

Instructions for reports on individual officers,

Letters outlining the correct procedure for making reports on officers for distinction or inefficiency, and stressing the importance of observing it. These instructions, originating from the Commander in Chief of the Egyptian Expeditonary Force, were issued to his immediate subordinates and then circulated at lower levels.

Financial matters, equipment, and related correspondence,

Correspondence and accounts relating to financial transactions both within the Army and with private businesses, including the procurement of equipment and the administration of a variety of army funds. Financial business was often complicated and prolonged by the Army's organisation, with its separate officers' accounts, private accounts, mess accounts, squadron accounts, regimental accounts, and accounts for numerous other units and functions (medical, kitchen, saddlery, weaponry, and so on), and also by the need for communication between the regiment, supply depots, and the War Office.

Motor cyclists' pay,

Correspondence relating to overpayments made to some motor cyclists in the Welsh Horse, as well as the circumstances that brought about the discrepancies, namely that additional motor cyclists had been attached to the Yeomanry. Also included is a printed copy of Army Orders, with the relevant sections marked.
