An account book of a farmer of [the parish of Guilsfield], Montgomeryshire, containing particulars of daily receipts and disbursements for the period 1796-1804. There are references to the sale of livestock, crops, and farm produce, to the receipt of rent and of interest on loans, and to payments in respect of food and clothing, wages, turnpike tolls and other travelling expenses, taxes, coal, lime, stones, slates, tithes, chief rent, etc. At the beginning and the end of the volume are memoranda, 1790-1798, relating to agreements for the delivery of barley and peas, the shoeing of horses, etc.

Farming wages books

The series comprises a farming wages book containing details of farming wages paid with some additional memoranda, including details of orchards planted in 1919 by Josef Straeton, a German prisoner of war.

Papers, 1839-1931, relating to the Naylor family and the Leighton Hall and Brynllywarch estates, comprising accounts, rent schedules, valuations and sale catalogues, together with correspondence and other material relating to the family, and in particular to their activities as high sheriffs for Montgomeryshire.

Additional papers were received in July 2021, this material mainly comprising correspondence and newspaper cuttings, which trace the history of and events within the Naylor family and the Leighton Hall estate from the mid-nineteenth century to the near present day. The material includes a memorandum book, 1848-1856, belonging to John Naylor (1813-1889) of Leighton Hall.

Llyfr Clustnodau Defaid

'Clustnodwr neu Lyfr Clustnodau Defaid', being a volume containing diagrams and particulars of sheep ear-marks used by farmers in the parishes of Llangynog, Pennant Melangell, Llanrhaiadr ym Mochnant, Llanwddyn and Hirnant in Montgomeryshire, Llandrillo, Llanfor, Llandderfel and Llangower in Merioneth and Llangwm in Denbighshire, 1827.

Montgomeryshire and Cardiganshire conservation projects

The series comprises circulars, fact sheets, pamphlets and correspondence concerning the Montgomeryshire Flora Project, 1984-1994, and the Montgomeryshire Canal Conservation Project, 1988-1989, together with postcards from Penny Condry to NLW reporting the successful outcome of conservation measures in Cwm Einion and the Dyfi marshes initiated by her late husband, 1998.

Montgomeryshire Waterway Restoration

The file comprises correspondence and papers relating to the restoration of the Montgomeryshire Canal and its subsequent operation. Many of the papers concern the proceedings of the Montgomery Waterway Restoration Group of the Prince of Wales Committee.

A music book inscribed E. Mills [?Montgomeryshire] Bandmaster's book from David his son, containing marches, waltzes, glees, etc. Included in the collection are Montgomeryshire Slow March, Montgomeryshire Lasses or The Heroes of Salamanca, Brecknockshire March, Montgomery Militia, Montgomeryshire Yeomanry, Cwn Sq. Lewis Nantgwillt, as well as several of the better known Welsh airs.

A steward's account book of Newtown (Montgomeryshire) Wesleyan Circuit for the period 1830-1867. The accounts are almost entirely in the form of statements of receipts and disbursements in respect of successive quarterly meetings. Insets in the volume include a receipt, [18]48, from Thos. Kempster, Welsh Pool, to the Newtown Circuit for the payment of £31.3s. in settlement of a claim; statements of prospective income and present income, 1866; and a holograph letter from Jno. Davies, Newtown, circuit steward, to the Reverend Chas. Prest, Islington, London, and a reply, 1866 (the division of the circuit and the possibility of a grant towards the support of ministers at Newtown and Welshpool).
