The collection was compiled approximately during February - July 1902.

A collection of 'cerddi', 'carolau', etc. by Hugh Morris, together with a 'cerdd' by Huw Jones, Llangwm, a 'cerdd' by the Reverend Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], anonymous 'englynion, 'carolau' and some financial accounts, 1805 and undated. The volume is in the hand of Huw Jones, Llangwm, with a few later additions by Elizabeth Maurice and by Mary Richards, Darowen. It belonged to Thomas Powel, 1804, and Martha Powel, 1805, and also bears the names of Henry Powel, 1756, John Jones, carpenter, Pentregayr [Oswestry] and Martha Edwards.

A thin notebook containing englynion, etc. on Biblical subjects and on subjects of Anglesey interest e.g. 'Y Gledrffordd i Lanerchymedd'. Three of the englynion, on the inside upper and lower covers, are attributed to 'Maudwy', but the remainder are anonymous.

A volume containing some 'penillion' and, at the other end and largely in a different hand, late eighteenth and early nineteenth century English poetry ('On the death of Cromwell', 'On the death of Admiral Lord Nelson', etc.). Some of the English poems are signed 'J.M.' There is also an 'englyn', in yet another hand, by Catrin Morgan. Watermark: 1813.

Clough, Morgan Davies, (?) Nannau, Peter Lloyd, Gwnodl, Thomas Edwards, Corwen and Thomas Jones, Corwen; a series of 182 'Pennillion' [i.e. 'Hen Benillion']; a few 'Beddargraffiadau' and 'englynion' or other items of verse, some dated, by various poets including the following: Robert Davies, Nantglyn, Lewis Morris, Edward Evans, Gwyddelwern, Hugh Moris, Griffith James, John Roberts, Hersedd, Morus ap Robert o'r Bala, [John Jones] 'Ioan Tegid', Y Parchedig Walter Davies, Y Parchedig Roger B. There are a number of blank folios after p. 68 but on the final page are four lines of verse described as being 'on a window at the White Horse Inn Holyw[ell]'.

A small notebook containing hymn stanzas, verses on 'Y pla yn y flwyddyn 1849', lines of verse by W.B. 'sef William Bifan y Gadlys Plwyf Llanwnda' and Hugh Jones, ['Gwyndaf Ieuanc'] Penygroes, Llanwnda, and 'englynion' by [David Davies] 'Tremlyn', one to Evan Jones, Moria, 1890. At the reverse end are notes in the autograph of John Jones ['Myrddin Fardd'] headed 'Hen Ddywediadau - Gwerin-eiriau', with some press cuttings.

A notebook in the hand of Jonathan Owain Reynolds ('Nathan Dyfed'; 1814-91), containing copiously annotated examples of doggerel verse submitted by Morgan Manner (Mainwaring) ('Bardd y Dwr') to mock literary competitions organised by the young men of Merthyr Tudful annually on New Year's Day, and transcripts of verses by Glamorgan bards, such as Rhys Hywel Rhys, Blaen-y-glais, Y Faenor, Thomas Dafydd Miles, Dyffryn, Aberdâr, Emwnt Rhys, 'Nathan Dyfed', Watkin Dafydd ('Y Tribanwr'), the Reverend Dafydd Saunders, Merthyr, etc.

A notebook bearing the name, and largely in the hand of, H[ugh] W[illiams] Kyffin, Meifod Vicarage, 25 September 1858, containing a series of ninety-one 'penillion'; anonymous 'englynion', including 'On Pwll Ceris, the Vortex in the Menai' and 'Cyfarch i Gyhoeddwr y 'Cambro Briton'; tribannau by [ ] 'Ioan o Garedigion'; 'A Stanza from the Pastorals of Edward Richards [sic], on a Bachelor's Prospect of Dissolution'; 'An old prophecy ('Pan fo Rhuddlan heb Gonwyaid ...'); verses entitled 'Yr Hedydd; Epitaphs of Rowland Williams ('a joiner of stones'), 1753, and 'on a tombstone in a Church-yard in Wales', the latter by [John Ryland Harris] ('Ieuan Ddu o Lantawe'), 1821; verses by Mrs Owen, Plas Coch, Llangyniew, the Reverend R. Two notebooks (pasted together) of the Reverend John Lloyd Richards (1790-1854), vicar of Llanwddyn containing 'Subjects for [weekly] themes given by Mr Ainger for 1821', '...[L]ines ... set up in a neat frame in the room at the Pavilion by the falls of the Clyde in Scotland', 1817; verses by R. Davies entitled 'I Bedwar Rhan y Flwyddyn'; prose texts entitled 'The Number Seven', 'English Language' and 'Esau and Jacob'; verses entitled 'Happiness' by the present Bp. of Calcutta. Dr. Heber'; personal accounts, 1821-31 (expenses at St Bees College and at Nun Monkton, payments to hired servants, receipts of rent etc.); etc. The scribe's sister, Mary Richards, during the period 1870-3 has used blank spaces to record copious memoranda, anecdotes and transcripts of verse and family letters.

An imperfect volume of Welsh poetry and Welsh translations of poetry by, and largely in the hand of, the Reverend John Myrddin Thomas (1838-1914), a native of Felin-wen, Abergwili, Carmarthenshire and Independent minister successively at Abersychan (1858-62), Newport (1862-6), Monmouthshire, Mold and Sychtyn (1866-72), Llong (1866-82) and Pontybodkin (1868-82), Flintshire. The volume was acquired on 25 October 1856 and much of the poetry is dated within the period 1856-?87. In many instances there are copious revisions by the author with a view to publication. Among the titles are 'Deigryn ar fedd fy ewythr yr hwn a huna yn monwent bruddaidd Abergwili', 'Can i ddyffryn Tywi', 'Laura Annie. Merch Morgan John Ysw Pontypool', Galareb i D. W. Evans B.A. Athraw Ysgol y Tabernacl Caerfyrddin', 'Baban newydd eni Mr Evan Jones Contractor Abersychan a'i briod', 'I'w osod ar fedd Dd Morgan Twynyffrwd Abersychan', 'Englyn i'w osod ar feddfaen gwraig y Parch. Thomas Morgan Noddfa Abersychan', and 'Englyn yn ymholi am ansawdd iechyd Emily Gwenfrewi Merch fach William Howell Town Lock Casnewydd'. On the flyleaf and on the inner lower cover the author has recorded brief particulars of his educational and ministerial career, and among the insets are a few additional poems and a letter to J. Myrddin Thomas from T[homas] Johns ('Taborfryn'), Llanelli, 1886 (thanks for contribution to Tywysydd [y Plant], a personal tribute to the recipient and his family at Felinwen and a reference to an estrangement following the 'dadl Falayddol' [Bala College controversy]).

Holograph poetical compositions, including drafts, by William Morgan Williams ('Fferyllfardd'; 1832-77), among them 'Hiraeth y Bardd am Gymru' ('Y Llyfr Cyntaf' and 'Yr Ail Lyfr'), 'Awdl Gynghaneddol', an 'awdl' on 'Anian yn ei Phrydferthwch yn Datgan Gogoniant Duw', a Welsh translation of ['Safe in the arms of Jesus'], and 'englynion', etc. on various subjects. One notebook contains early items, 1848-50, by 'Fferyllfardd', together with items by W. Williams, Pwllheli [(?) 'Gwilym Heli', father of W. M. Williams ('Fferyllfardd')], including a transcript of 'Anerchiad at Dafydd Owain or Gaerwen neu Dewi Wynn of Eifion Pan yn byw yn Mhwllheli yn y flwyddyn 1826'. There are also a few press cuttings and a draft of a presidential address. The wrapping paper bears the words 'Gweithiau Fferyll-fardd. I'w Hadolygu - Gan Myrddin Fardd.'

A notebook bearing the name 'Nancy Williams, Drysgol, Abergwesyn' containing press cuttings (poetry, etc.) in English and Welsh and some items in manuscript including an 'englyn' 'I Miss Nancy Williams' by [the Reverend Evan Afan Jenkins] 'Ifan Afan', Moriah, Whitland. The press cuttings include 'Rhestr o Hen Dai Adfeiledig ym mhlwyf Llanwrtyd gan Mr Evan Jones, Tynypant, Llanwrtyd', relating to Llanddewi Abergwesyn, Llanfihangel Abergwesyn and Tir-yr-Abad.
