A manuscript in the hand of Moses Williams containing 'Kelvyddyd kerdd Davod' (ff. 1-5a), being a copy of pp. 10-16 of Llanstephan MS 28, with a note stating that 'This imperfect Tract I transcribed out of a MS. writ by Guttyn Owain A.D. 1455 & communicated to me by D Foulkes of Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd.'; and an extract 'Out of Huw Machno's Book' (ff. 5b-12b) outlining the fifteen faults which may be committed when writing Welsh verse, with examples. The text cites a line from Wiliam Cynwal.

A manuscript containing poetry of Bedo Brwynllys, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Guto'r Glyn, Huw Cae Llwyd and others (pp. 1-136, 149-159); a vocabulary (pp. 137-149); Dafydd Ddu [Hiraddug]'s Grammar (pp. 161-198); the statutes of Gruffydd ap Cynan (pp. 199-206 (at the end of this extract is the note 'Dyma y maint a gebhais o'r Statut yn lhybhyr Meistr Sion ap Edward gam o drebh newydd, o blwybh Dewi yn Sir bhracheiniog . 1579 .'); a translation into Welsh of Genesis I (pp. 230-245); Biblical extracts and history (pp. 246-264) (a note on p. 252 records that the Biblical extracts were taken 'o lybhyr Mr Edmond Morgan o Bhedwelhty'); &c. All but pp. 256-259, 265-268 and part of p. 198 are in the autograph of the grammarian Dr John David Rhys (1534-1609); his peculiar orthography begins on p. 13, l. 21. The poetical extracts vary in length from three to fifty lines. The lines selected are not always consecutive; they are even occasionally fragmentary, and many words are explained or glossed. The awdl on p. 256 is in a different but contemporary hand from that of Dr John David Rhys. For p. 265, cf. the text on pp. 22-24, which agrees in part. For the dating of this manuscript see p. 207.

A manuscript containing flyting poetry exchanged between Archdeacon Edmwnd Prys and Wiliam Cynwal. Following the death of Wiliam Cynwal, Edmwnd Prys breaks off the exchange and composes an elegy to his erstwhile poetic rival (p. 177). Another elegy by Edmwnd Prys, to Siôn Phylip, occurs on p. 187. Richard Morris indexed the manuscript for W. Jones, Armiger, R.S.S., London, 1747 (see pp. iii-v). At p. 124 there is a copy of a letter from Edmwnd Prys to Wiliam Cynwal which refers to nine cywyddau of Wiliam Cynwal, of which a note on p. 93 of Peniarth MS 125 informs us the ninth was lost.
The extensive explanatory marginalia accompanying the compositions of Edmwnd Prys, coupled with the fact that the elegy to Siôn Phylip was evidently once folded and carried in the pocket, suggests that this manuscript may be a holograph once belonging to Edmwnd Prys. Much of the text of this manuscript, or one of the same archetype, was transcribed into Peniarth MS 125, though Peniarth MS 49 has four additional lines following 'Dôd i ddôl dedwdd Wiliam ...'.

A manuscript containing Welsh poetry, including the work of Edmwnd Prys, Sion Brwynog, Guto'r Glyn, Sion Phylip, Sion Tudur, Taliesin, Iolo Goch and others. Pp. 7-58, 61-66, 171-210 are in the hand of Roger Williams, assistant to Bishop William Morgan (1545-1604); pp. 131-137 are in the hand of Dr John David Rhys; and pp. 67-112, 139-152 are in the hand of John Powel of Talgarth, Breconshire (see pp. 67, 139; see also Peniarth MSS 27 and 45). P. 58 contains a note, 1611, in the hand of Roger Williams concerning 'the fees that goeth vpon any person in suinge owt his lyveryes', and on p. 61 is a note, 1617, in the same hand concerning the 'benefactors of the Cathedrall church of Landaphe'. Also included in the manuscript is a sermon 'in praise of theves' (p. 197), triads (pp. 200-201) and medical and veterinary recipes (pp. 199, 210b).

A manuscript containing poetry in praise of Gruffydd Dwnn, the bulk of it being in the autograph of Gruffydd Dwnn, though pp. 12 (Rhisiart Fynglwyd), 19 ('Syr John Teg'), 22 (Sion Brwynog), 41, 69, 108, 120 (Syr Owain ap Gwilym), 73, 74 (Morgan Elfael), 132c (Huw Llŷn), and 145 (unattributed, possibly autograph) are autograph works by the respective authors. Many of the poems are dated. Pp. 147-156 are in the holograph of Huw Llŷn (see notes on pp. 149, 153). P. 17 is inscribed 'ai kant pan oeddid yn kwplav y plas [nyr ystrad merthyr] o. k. 1533'. An inscription on p. 49 notes Syr Owain ap Gwilym as being 'ap Ieuan o dal y llynn' and, in relation to the poem, 'ai gwnaeth i ryffydd dwnn o hiraeth am rvffydd ag o eisse i weled ac ai danovones ynysgrifenedig i ryffyth donn' (see Peniarth MS 70, which evidently once belonged to the Gruffydd Dwnn Collection). P. 77 is inscribed probably in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn (relating to the date 1533) 'pan oedd rys [the eldest son of Gruffydd Dwnn] yn 11 mlwydd oed. I mayr kywydd hwnn yn ysgrifenedig mywn llyfr arall i ryffydd Dwnn kyfaillt y llyfr hwnn'. On p. 83 the name of 'syr John teg' has been crossed out and that of 'Gyttvn Owein' [Gutun Owain] substituted, though Gutun Owain was dead long before the poem's date of 1526; the text, however, appears to be in the autograph of Gruffydd Dwnn. The last line of the poem beginning at p. 87 may not belong to the first as pp. 89-90 are missing. P. 104 is inscribed, apparently in the hand of Huw Llŷn in relation to the author of the work, Morus Dwyfech, 'ai kant pann oedd o. k. 1560 ac ynn hir llyn i gwnnaeth ef y ddau englynn hynn'. P. 126 is inscribed in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn 'I mayr varnad honn yn ysgrifenedig yn y llyfr lle may englynyon yr eryr o law y gwr ai gwnaeth yr hwn lyfr a wnaeth gryffydd dwnn iddo i hyn yn gyntaf oll ond vn llyfr arall'. P. 144 is inscribed in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn 'gyttvn owein ai kant i ryffydd dwnn' (although, according to the date of the poem, Gruffydd Dwnn was an infant at the time of its writing). P. 147 is inscribed (in relation to Wiliam Cynwal, the author of the englynion) 'a Gant y chwech englyn hynn yni ynnwedic lythr at ruffudd dwnn 1566' (only the fifth and sixth englyn of this series remain).
This is one of the manuscripts mentioned in Mostyn MS 184. Gwenogvryn (J. Gwenogvryn Evans, Report on Manuscripts in the Welsh Language, vol. II, part II (London, 1903), p. 503) debates whether the englynion addressed to 'Gr: Dwnn o Gydweli' on at pp. 132-132b are in the hand of Owain Gwynedd.

A manuscript containing the poetical works of Lewis Glyn Cothi, Tudur Aled, Tudur Penllyn, Sion Cent, Ieuan ap Tudur Penllyn, Rhys Cain and others. There is some controversy as to whether f. 137 contains work by Llewelyn ab Ieuan or by Deio ab Ieuan Du. The volume is labelled 'Odlau a Chywydda. A. 4°'.
Ff. i-ii, 137-143b are not in the same hand as the rest of the manuscript, and ff. 144b-146 are in a modern hand. Ff. 1-56 may be copied from Peniarth MS 109; the order of the poems is the same at first, but the readings do not always agree, and there are four poems in this manuscript which are not in Peniarth MS 109. Pp. 11-96 of Peniarth MS 77 are copied from this manuscript. William Salesbury or Sir T. Wiliems has written what looks like 'rhyderch ap Howel ap Dauyd' on f. 136b.

Canwyll y Cymry, carols and 'dyrïau', being compositions of the Reverend Rice Prichard, M.A. ('Yr Hen Ficer') (1579?-1644) (pp. 7-146), vicar of Llandovery, and others in the hand of William Salisbury, Bachymbyd. The manuscript was completed on 20th April 1637 (see pp. 148b, 327). The Reverend Prichard's works include a considerable number which seem never to have been published. Some of the poets whose works appear include Rhys Cain, Sion Tudur, Edmwnd Prys and Llywarch Hen. On p. 328 there is a note on the hot summer and early harvest of the year 1638, the harvest of 1637, and high winds in October 1638.

The poetical works of Edward ap Raff in the hand of Ifan ap John of Scorlegan [or Richard ap John according to the online Dictionary of National Biography (under heading for Richard ap John of Scorlegan)]. Many of the poems are dated. Pp. 1-2 contain poetry by Ieuan Tew Brydydd and Hywel ap Dafydd ab Ieuan ap Rhys.

Welsh poetry in the same hand as Mostyn MS 160 and Peniarth MS 114. The poets cited include Guto'r Glyn, Sion Phylip, Dafydd Nanmor and Wiliam Llŷn.

A volume written in several hands of the seventeenth century and containing Welsh poetry mainly of a religious nature in strict and free metre ('cwndidau', 'cywyddau', 'penillion', etc .), a few medical and veterinary recipes, some in English, Welsh triads (f. 33 verso, 'llyma drioedd pawl'), and (ff. 36 verso, 40 verso) two items of religious verse in triplet metre in English. The poets whose work is represented are Thomas Lle'n (Thomas Lle'n Daio Pwel), Lle'n Daio Pwel, Thomas ap Ieuan ap Rys, Siankin Thomas, Gronw Wiliam, Davydd ap Risiart, Howell Siankin, Ieuan ap Rys 'o verthyr kynon', Wiliam Prys, Sion Siankin 'o benllin', Ll'n Sion, Sion(n) y Kent, Thomas Harry Morgan, Rys Goch, Howel Swrdwal, Iolo Goch, Howel D'd ap Ieann [sic] ap Rys, Davydd Ddu Hiraddig, Sion Tydr, Risiart D'd, Rees Pritchard (Rhys Prichard), Watkin Powell, and Jenk: [Richard]. Ff. 42 recto-69 verso contain poetical compositions by Rhys Prichard ['Yr Hen Ficer'], one dated 1616, and someone has supplied page references (in pencil) where possible to [Y Seren Foreu, neu Ganwyll y Cymry. Gan Rhys Pritchard A.M. . . . (Llanymddyfri: Rhys Tomas, 1770)]; there are, however, some differences between the manuscript and the printed text and not all the items in the manuscript are to be found in the printed volume. The handwriting of ff. 73 recto-74 verso is the same as that of NLW MS 13072B and I. A. Williams MS 7 and the contents of these pages relate in part to the year 1660. The last item in the volume is an incomplete copy of a long series of religious 'englynion' according to the letters of the alphabet by [Lewis Glyn Cothi]. There are a few annotations by Edward Williams, 'Iolo Morganwg', and a piece of paper bearing the name 'Taliesin Williams (Ab Iolo)' has been pasted in at the beginning of the volume.

A manuscript (watermark 1838) in a parchment cover made out of an affidavit sworn at Swansea, 1821, containing transcripts from a manuscript or manuscripts of Peter Vaughan, A.M., vicar of Llangerniw [Llangernyw, co. Denbigh] as follows: two 'englynion' containing the names of the fifteen tribes of Gwynedd; 'A short acc[oun]t of the fifteen tribes of North Wales collected out of ancient B[r]itish MSS. by P[eter] V[aughan]', followed by an account of the five royal tribes of Cambria ('5 Brenhinllwyth Cymry'), with the names of 'Pump Kostawglwyth Cymry' and '3 byrriach Gwynedd'; the pedigrees of the fifteen tribes of North Wales, etc., drawn to Beli Mawr; the names of the kings of Britain to Brutus and to Cadwaladr and of the princes of Wales from Cadwaladr to Llewelyn ab Griffith; and 'A short acc[oun]t of the Archbishopricks & Bishopricks in England & Wales by P[eter] V[aughan] 1685'. The tenor of the affidavit forming the cover is that Robert Withecombe of the town of Swansea, co. Glamorgan, gent., knows Alexander Prole and Dorothea, his wife, two of the cognizors named in a fine. Loose in the manuscript is a fragment of a (?) fourteenth century legal manuscript in Latin, once used as a cover for a small book or manuscript.

A small eighteenth century manuscript containing a few 'englynion', etc., by John Griffith 'o Landdyfnan yn Môn', Owen Gruffydd, J. Rhydderch, Griffith Lloyd, and anonymous authors, with two anecdotes in Welsh. The name 'L. Morris' occurs beneath the anecdotes and the manuscript appears to be for the most part in the hand of Lewis Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fôn').

A small volume containing Welsh poetry in strict and free metre written in a mid- seventeenth century hand [not that of Wiliam Phylip the poet]; the date 1676 (p. 22) is probably later than the manuscript itself. The poets whose work is represented are Iolo Goch, Will: Phylip, Hunffrey [sic] d'd ap Euan 'y clochydd' / 'clochydd o lanbren mair', and Doctor Siôn Cemp [sic].

A small imperfect volume containing Welsh poetry and an item of prose written for the most part c. 1600 in various artificial scripts by the scribe of Peniarth MS 65 [Owen John, R.W.M., I, 454] and NLW MS 13081B (Llanover B. 23), with a few additions of slightly later date in other hands at the end. The contents are as follows: pp. 1-74, a series of 'cywyddau', numbered [4]-7 and 9-23, by John Phelip (beginning wanting), Morys ap Howel, Lewys y morganwg, Robert Leia (beginning wanting), John y kent, Gr. llwyd dap Einion lygwy [sic], Sr Owen ap Gwillim, Rys ap Hari 'o Eas', Iolo Goch, and Dafudd ap Rys 'ofeni' [sic]; 75-96, 'cywyddau' by unnamed poets and by Morgan ap hoell, Llywelyn sion, and Thomas lly'n; 97- 126, 'Llyma henway y Pedwar Brenin Ar higain ofrenhinnoedd ynys Brydayin y rhaini y farnwyd yn Gadarnaf . . . Ac felyma henway y brenhinnoedd awnaeth y Prif Geyrydd Penaf yn yr holl ynys brydayn ay henway Pwy ay Gwnaeth, A nef yddy ynt Os kenad Gan dduw y Erchi pod Gwir Amen'; 127-32, 'owdwl fair a Gant Gwilim I ddysgu or hen fesurau gorchestawl ac Nyd ydynt yw cael and y nti hi am farddoniaeth'; 134, lines beginning 'efo naeth panton . . . ' (? in another hand, incomplete); 136-9, a 'cywydd' by Rys ap hari; 141-60 (pagination confused) 'cywyddau', some imperfect and incomplete, by John y Kent, Sion Tydyr, Sieles ap Sion 'Gwas yr henaynt' and others (unnamed); 161-4 and 169-75, religious stanzas in free metre, the second series perhaps in the autograph of one Edward Watkin; and 1177, an 'englyn' by Siarles Siones [sic]. There is a note (? incomplete) mentioning Mary John, the wife late of Richard Lewys, and others who entered a house in the parish of Mynythusllon (167). The date 1625 occurs on p. 165.
