Breconshire estate accounts, rentals, vouchers, etc

Accounts, rentals and vouchers of the Breconshire estates of Walter Pryse, Lewis Pryse and Edward Loveden Loveden, 1740-1826. The majority comprise bundles of accounts, usually incorporating the rentals, vouchers and sometimes relevant letters, mostly from the office of Edward (‘Ned’) Jones, agent for Edward Loveden Loveden, at Llandovery. Many of the accounts include the rectory of Llan-gors and a portion of the tithes, held by lease from the Dean and Chapter of Windsor, and repairs to Llan-gors church. The vouchers typically record payments into Child’s Bank, shares in the Brecon and Abergavenny Canal, and costs of properrty repairs.

Pentre David, Porkington, Selatyn

Title deeds, which appear to relate to two separate parts of a property called Pentre David in the parish of Selatyn, Salop, 1707-1827. One part, together with Hen Plassey, was purchased by the Brogyntyn trustees from Frederick West in 1827, and the other, Pentre David Farm, had been purchased from Thomas Jackson in 1822

Cases of Lewis Pryse (d. 1779), Margaret Pryse and Edward Loveden Loveden

Papers mainly from legal cases involving Lewis Pryse of Woodstock and Gogerddan, his widow Margaret Pryse, and Edward Loveden Loveden, husband of Lewis Pryse’s daughter, also named Margaret, [post-1753]-1792, and later notes, 1828. They include actions of trespass and ejectment to recover the mines at Esgair Fraith, 1772-1781, and Cwmsymlog, 1791; and actions in replevin, brought by Mathew Davies against agents of the Pryse’s tenant at Bwlchystyllen, 1784-1828. Other disputes concern financial issues between Edward Loveden Loveden and Samuel Wilson Warneford, trespasses on the Gogerddan estate, the title to a mill and debts owed to Thomas Lewes..

Notebooks of the Watkin family of Moelcerney

Notebooks of the Watkin family of Moelcerney (or Moelycerney) in the parish of Llanfihangel Genau’r-glyn, containing various memoranda by Anne Watkin, 1811-1827, poetry copied by Catherine Watkin, 1821-1824, and the daily journal of a Methodist minister in Yorkshire who appears to have been connected with the Watkin family, 1831.

Mon., and Peterston-super-Ely, Roath, Merthyr Tudful, Llantrisant, Coychurch, Coety, Llandaf, Cardiff and St Brides-super-Ely, co. Glam., including accounts of disbursements, land and level taxes, all collected by Francis McDonnell, 1820-35 (R 8-14), and Henry Mostyn, 1836-8 (R 15-18).
