Thomas is noted in Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry 1794, No. 10, and on p. 45 of Awdlau ar Destynau Cymdeithas y Gwyneddigion, London, 1791, by D. Thomas, there is a reference to the proposed publication of this MS, which bears the following title on p. 3 : Arweinydd ir Gymraeg a amcanwyd i dywys yr anhyddysg i lwybr gwybodaeth fuddiol, ac i gyfarwyddyd helaeth yn ardderchawgrwydd yr Iaith a chywreinrwydd ei Barddoniaeth . . . gan Humphrey Thomas, Athraw Ysgol, a Dafydd Thomas, Bardd.

The first book consists of a collection of songs, some accompanied by musical notation, chiefly by Seaghan O Duibhir an Ghleanna, Tagdh Gaodhalach and Eoghan Ruadh O Suiliobhain; the second book consists of a collection of Irish minstrelsy written for the Reverend Joseph Baylee, M.A., incumbent of Holy Trinity Church, Woodside, Cheshire, the chief writers being Seumas O Caoindealbhain, Eoghan Ruadh O Suiliobhain and Tadhg O Suiliobhain; the third book consists of miscellaneous verses transcribed by James Sullivan at Liverpool, 1841, for the Reverend Joseph Baylee and contains poems by James Sullivan, elegies on various members of the O'Sullivan family, two pieces by Eoghan Ruadh O Suiliobhain, etc.

The volume contains an itinerary of various journeys made by Paul Panton of Plasgwyn, Anglesey, between 1784 and 1795. Details of the distance travelled each day are given and many interesting notes with references to places visited have been added.
