The itinerary includes Stinchcombe, Gloucestershire (f. 1), Dinas Mawddwy (f. 2 recto-verso), Barmouth (f. 3) and Harlech (f. 3 recto-verso), Merionethshire, and Beddgelert, Caernarvonshire (f. 3 verso). Minute-book, 1796-1909, of the trustees of the charity created by the will of Ellen Glynne of Elernion, parish of Llanaelhaearn, co. Caernarfon, spinster, respecting the almshouse at Llandwrog and property in the parishes of Llandwrog and Llanllyfni, co. Caernarfon, and in the parish of Llangoed, co. Anglesey. The minutes include details of admittances to the almshouse and details of tenants, rents and repair of trust property. Also included in the volume are copies of the will, 1727, with codicils, 1728 and 1732/3, of Ellen Glynne, proved at London, 1733 (tipped in between ff. i and ii; ff. 1-6v).

Diary, etc., of John Davies, Ystrad
A diary and commonplace book of John Davies (David) ('Siôn Dafydd y Crydd'), bookbinder and cobbler, of Llanfihangel Ystrad, co. Cardigan. The diary covers the period from 1 January 1796 to 19 December 1799 (new style) and refers mainly to 'booking ', e.g., the binding of local Church Bibles, the making of a letter case for William Lewes, Llysnewydd, the purchase of pasteboard and glue, etc. Other entries consist of copious observations on the weather and on the health of the writer and of members of his family; records of other activities of the scribe and of his wife, such as the making up of club accounts and attendance at club feasts, the making up of churchwardens' and vestry accounts, the writing of documents (leases, wills, marriage settlements, letters, bidding letters, and club articles), estreating, attendance at religious services, the death and burial of local residents, visits to fairs, gardening, the raising of turf, the making of candles, watch repairing, the spinning of flax and hemp, grinding at the mill, etc.); and references to unusual or interesting contemporary incidents, e.g., the beginning of Bedlwyn bridge, 9 August 1796, 'great noise about the French landing in Pembrokshire', 1 March 1797, 'great alarm about mad dogs ', 17 March 1797, the eclipse of the sun, 24 June 1797, '2000 Irish emigrants in Pembrokshire', 15 June 1798, 'Terrible Rebellion in Ireland', 18 June 1798, '. . . the Buck wheat plowed with a new plow English fashion with foure Horses', 31 August 1798, etc. In the left hand margin of each page are two columns indicating each date in both the new and the old styles. The remainder of the volume contains miscellaneous poetry, including stanzas and 'englynion' by D. Davies, lines 'On Czar Peter of Russia', 1797, stanzas beginning 'God save the Rights of Man', 1795, 'Englynion I Lys Ifor Hael . . .' by Evan Evans ('Bardd ac Offeiriad'), 1779, with an English translation, 'Can, yr hon a genir gan filwyr Ffraingc wrth fyned it frwydr', 1797, stanzas entitled 'God Save the King' (beginning 'Fame let thy Trumpet sound') (extracted 5 January 1763 from The Gentleman's Magazine, December 1745), stanzas extracted in 1772 from William Lithgow's 'Book of . . . Travels', 'cywydd' couplets by Edmund Prys and Hug[h] Arwystl, stanzas entitled 'The Brittish Muse, The Banks of the Wye' (from the Hereford Journal, 18 June 1778), stanzas entitled 'Tweed's Side' (from The Gentleman's Magazine, May 1767), 'Chwanegiad at gân Rhydddid' (in a later hand), 'Can o Sen I Ficcar Coch Cayo' by Dafydd Manuel, 'General Thanksgiving. A volume compiled, 1798-[1808], by Henry J. Hughes, Llanbeblig, containing precedents of declarations, pleas, and other legal documents, together with cases and opinions and notes on replevin.
The precedents relate mainly to cases in Anglesey, Caernarfonshire and Merionethshire, [18 cent., second ¼]-[late 18 cent.]. The contents are listed on pp. iv-ix. An agreement to build a drain, 1829, is loose at the end of the volume (pp. 323-324).

Memoirs of Thomas Jones, Pencerrig
Memoirs and journal, compiled 1798, of the artist Thomas Jones, Pencerrig, recounting in detail his life in London, France and especially Italy during the second half of the eighteenth century.
The volume briefly recounts Jones's ancestry and early years, becoming more detailed from the 1760s, with the last detailed entry being for December 1783 (f. 218 verso); the bulk of these later entries are extracts from Jones's own journals. The final entry was signed by the artist at Pencerrig, November 1798 (f. 220 verso). The main text, including some later deletions, is written on the versos only; notes and emendations, [1798x1803], have been added by Jones on the rectos and the volume has been signed and dated 1803 by him inside the front cover. Family memoranda, in a different hand, have been added after Jones's death (ff. 225 verso). Diary of David Jones, Llan-gan
The Christian Lady's Pocket Book for 1798 belonging to the Rev. David Jones of Llan-gan, Glamorgan, and Manorowen, Pembrokeshire, the prominent Methodist preacher, containing brief diary entries noting day-to-day activities, preaching engagements and tours (pp. 14-118, versos only) with additional material occasionally added on facing pages.
Two short prayers in Welsh are on pp. 111, 113. Additional memoranda, in pencil and ink, 1817-1831, appear to be in the hand of his grandson, the Rev. Lewellin Lewellin (pp. i, iii, vi, 146 and inside the covers). The volume also incorporates printed poetry, prose, tables and other information (pp. 1-12, 121-144). A few extracts from the diary, translated into Welsh, were published in 'Lloffion ar ol yr Hybarch David Jones, Llangan', Y Drysorfa, 70 (1900), 129-131 (pp. 129-130).

A volume containing a fair copy, [?1799] (watermarks 1794, 1796, 1798), of a journal of a tour through parts of England and Wales, August-September 1797, describing in particular country houses and other sites visited, road conditions and scenery.
Departing from London on 17 August, the itinerary included Oxford (ff. 8 verso-28 verso), Cheltenham, Gloucester and Worcester (ff. 37-51), Coalbrookdale (ff. 56 verso-58 verso), Shrewsbury (ff. 60-65), Welshpool (ff. 65 verso-69), Llangollen (ff. 73 verso-80), Corwen, Bala, Dolgellau and Barmouth (ff. 80 verso-89 verso), Aberystwyth and the vicinity (ff. 90-95 verso), Kington (f. 98 verso), Herefordshire (ff. 99-103), the lower Wye Valley from Hereford to Chepstow (ff. 103-113), and various houses in Wiltshire (ff. 114-134 verso). Included in the journal are descriptions of William Herschel's telescope at Slough (ff. 6-7 verso), various Oxford Colleges (ff. 9-27 verso), Chirk Castle (ff. 70 verso-72), Valle Crucis Abbey (ff. 78-79 verso) and the Hafod Estate, Cardiganshire (ff. 92-94 verso). The descriptions of Blenheim Palace (ff. 30-35 verso), Attingham House, Shropshire (ff. 63-64 verso), Stourhead (ff. 114 verso-120 verso), Fonthill (ff. 120 verso-124), Wardour Castle (ff. 124-127 verso) and Longford Castle (ff. 128-131), all Wiltshire, include lists of the paintings housed there. A manuscript music book, with some annotations in pencil, containing lessons, songs, dances and airs for the harp in the hand of Elizabeth Giffard (1766-1842) of Nerquis Hall, Flintshire (for Elizabeth Giffard's dates of birth and death see e.g. Peter Howell Williams, 'Elizabeth Giffard of Nerquis Hall' in Hanes Bro Clwyd, 27 (Autumn 1991), pp. 2-11; cf. her signature in NLW Caerhun collection, 240-1, and in her will (NLW SA 1844/158)).
The title of each work and, in some cases, the name of the composer, is noted for each piece. Several of the pieces (pp. 17, 24, 26, 29, 30, 33, 39, 66 (titled the 'Nerquis March'), 69, 75, 89) are by Benjamin Cunnah (will proved 1840), organist of Ruabon, Denbighshire, and composer of New Welch Music: Consisting of Three Sonatas, Chase Minuets, Siciliano, Rondos, Marches, Airs with Variations for the Harp or Piano Forte (London, 18--). Several Welsh airs are included (pp. 10, 12, 21 ('Ar Hyd y Nos'), 22 ('Codiad yr Ehedydd'), 23 ('Nos Galan'), 25 ('Pen y Rhaw'), 71 ('Ar Hyd y Nos'), 84-85 ('The March of [the] Men of Harlech'), 280-1 ('Morfa Rhuddlan')). Above the piece entitled 'Midnight Cerus' (p. 89) Elizabeth Giffard has noted 'Blowed June 29 1807 at Nerquis Hall'. At the end of the volume (pp. 278-286) are some technical exercises for the harp together with instructions for tuning the instrument and for pedalling. A volume, [early 19 cent.]-1851, used as a letter book by William Williams of Carne [Carnecoch], Llanwnda, Pembrokeshire. The volume contains copies of letters, September 1834-March 1842 (pp. 325-447), March 1842-June 1843 (pp. 457-473) and June 1843-April 1851 (pp. 45-264), mainly concerning the rents, tenancies, repairs and management of the estates of D. Davies and the Rev. Edward Jones in the parishes of Little Newcastle, Dinas and St Davids, Pembrokeshire, and the estate of Mrs Amy Skeel and Mrs. Williams (mother of William Williams) in Kibworth Harcourt, Leicestershire.
Also in the hand of William Williams are farm accounts [?for Carnecoch], October 1832-August 1833 (pp. 40-43).
