Account of the arrival to Montgomery on 24 March 1768 of Sir Richard Perrot (accompanied by Commodore Glinn), formerly member for Penrin, Cornwall, to offer himself as candidate to oppose Mr Clive in the election on 25 March, his welcome by the burgesses and ringers, his treating of them with drink and a roasted sheep, and his sudden disappearance two hours or thereabouts before the 'night of their mistaken election'.
