A transcript of the notebook of Kurt Ockert (1920-2011), a German Prisoner of War, posted to work in Radnorshire during the Second World War who married a Welsh girl from Presteigne and lived there until his death. A collection of documents, 1651-[19 cent., first ½], relating to the Commonwealth and Protectorate in England. They include a warrant, 7 November 1651, from the Council of State, signed by its president John Bradshaw, authorising the merchant Charles Longland to act as their agent in Livorno, Tuscany, in supplying the parliamentarian fleet and providing intelligence (item i); a commission, 15 October 1655, from Oliver Cromwell (signed 'Oliver P.'), appointing George Langford as chirurgeon [surgeon] in Col. Goffe's regiment of horse (item ii); and a further commission, 11 July 1659, from Parliament, signed by W[illia]m Lenthall, Speaker, appointing Langford to the rank of Cornet in a troop of horse under Col. Thomas Saunders (item iii).
Also included is an engraving, 1793, of a 1654 portrait of William Lenthall (item iv); and an engraving, [19 cent., first ½], depicting the trial of Charles I (item v). Two of the documents have papered seals affixed: Cromwell's private seal (item ii) and the seal of the Council of State (Item i).

T. Rees, church secretary. It also includes press cuttings, 1926-1968, and family and chapel photographs.

Seventeen photos,mainly snapshots, some annotated on the reverse, most of which relate to a holiday or holidays in Poland in 1928. One passport type photo is annotated on the reverse 'Kazik Szumowski, London, 12/viii/1931'. The same individual can be identified in other photos wearing Polish military uniform. Amongst the annotated photos are a camp organised by the Polish YMCA, hiking in the Tatras mountains and a group of Polish military officers. The four postcards in the collection are two portraits of Tadeusz Kosciuszko, a group of girls in swimming costumes dancing on a beach and a real photographic card of a group of young men with bicycles.

Also included are printouts of reminiscences by Gareth Prytherch, of Vancouver, Canada, a contributor to the above magazine, which were published online and information relating to Idwal Pugh who was also a prisoner of war at the same camp.
