This forms one of the series of manuscripts of Welsh poetry copied under the superintendence of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, and bears the reference B. 4°. Wherever the copyist failed to read the original he left blanks which Dr Davies filled in throughout the volume. Dr Davies also added an index, alphabetically arranged, to first lines of poetry (p. 567); added to this is an index to the authors of the poems, also alphabetically arranged, which bears the inscription 'Rhisiard Morys ai Sgrifennodd i Wm: Jones R.S.S. 1747' (pp. 577-588).

A volume of awdlau and cywyddau by various poets. The manuscript is a composite volume and is divided into four books: Part I (pp. 49-434), Part II (pp. 435-512), Part III (514-942) and Part IV (pp. 943-998). Pages 57-432 appear to have been written before 1563; the remainder belongs to the mid-seventeenth century.

Transcripts of Welsh cywyddau, incorporating 'Llyfr Mr Robert Wynne o'r Berth Ddu' (p. 19). The manuscript includes blocks of poetry ascribed to Dafydd ap Gwilym (pp. 387-405) and Guto'r Glyn (pp. 652-670), and associated with Wiliam Gruffudd of Penrhyn (pp. 493-589).

The manuscript is in four hands: hand A is that of Dr John Davies of Mallwyd; hands B and C seem to be those of professional clerks; and hand D is that of William Salisbury. There is an index of first lines from A-T in the hands of Dr Davies of Mallwyd and William Maurice of Llansilin.

The poets represented are Iorwerth Beli, G[o]ronwy Gyriog, Owen ap Llywelyn [ap] Moel [y Pantri], Dafydd ab Edmwnd, Lewis Môn, Tudur Aled, Lewis Daron, Guto'r Glyn, Iolo Goch, Inco Brydydd, Thomas Prys, Ieuan Brydydd Hir [Hynaf], Llawdden, Ieuan Deulwyn, Rhys Nanmor, Rhys Pennardd, Robin Ddu ap Siencyn Bledrydd, Ieuan ap Tudur Penllyn, Ithel ap Rhys, Gwilym ab Ieuan Hen, Tudur Penllyn, Dafydd Llwyd ap Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, Llywelyn ab y Gutun, Lewis Glyn Cothi, Mastr Harri, Ieuan [D]ew Brydydd, Rhys Goch Glyndyfrdwy, Ieuan ap Hywel Swrdwal, Gruffudd Gryg and Gutun Owain. There is a section at the end of the book in another hand of the close of the sixteenth century. Simwnt Vychan wrote one of the poems in this section. There are marginal notes, mainly genealogical, by John Davies, Rhiwlas, Llansilin throughout the entire manuscript.

Poetry of Prydydd y Moch, Bleddyn Fardd and other poets of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, mostly written c. 1605 (p. 305).
Pp. 292-97 are apparently in the hand of Robert Vaughan of Hengwrt.

A volume containing Welsh strict-metre poetry in the hand of Wmffre Dafis, vicar of Darowen, written in 1599 for his nephew, Theodore Price, sub-dean of Westminster Abbey.
The same scribe also wrote Bodewryd MS 1, BL Addl MS 14933, Llanstephan MSS 35, 118, and NLW MS 3056D (Mostyn MS 160). Jesus College MS 101 (see Report on Manuscripts in the Welsh Language, 2 vols (London, 1898-1910), II, pp. 68-86) appears to be a straight transcript from this manuscript. A series of englynion in Welsh and Latin have been added in an early-seventeenth century hand on f. v.

The first part of the manuscript is by a single scribe of the mid-15th century. The second part is by several scribes and dates from 1501 to 1540.

The manuscript is in six different hands: Part a is dated 1573; Part b is the autograph of Simwnt Fychan; Part c was written before 1584; Part d was written about the same time as Part c; both Part e and Part f were written c. 1580.
