Llwydiarth estate: Llanfair collection

The collection comprises property in p's Llangynyw, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanerfyl, Llangadfan, Garthbeibio, Llanymawddwy, Llanbryn-mair and Mallwyd, all co. Mont. Property in p. Llangynyw first appears in RA10 (1670-1674). Post 1772, the co. Mont. properties are continued in Collection III, while p. Mallwyd, co. Mer., properties are continued in Collection I. Collectors: John Morgan, 1626, Humphrey Roberts, 1674, Ellis Jones, 1713-1719, Humphrey Roberts, 1717-1758, and Thomas Jones, 1758-72.

Llwydiarth estate: Llanfihangel, Mochnant and Llangedwyn collections

The Llanfihangel collection comprises property in p's Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa (t's Llwydiarth, Cefncleisiog, Dolwar, Rhiwlas, Halfen, Fach-wen, Farchwel, Llaethbwlch), Llanwyddyn (t. Garthwlch), Meifod, Pool, Llanfyllin (t. Camen), all in co's Mont. and Denb. The Mochnant collection cmprises property in p's Llangynog, Pennant Melangell (t's Garthgelynnen, Cornorion), [Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant] (t's Brithdir, Nantfyllon, Llanhafon), Hirnant (t. Cwm y Fedw), Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, Llanfechain, all co. Mont. The Llangedwyn collection comprises property in p's Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, Llangedwyn (t. Sgrwgan), Llansilin, Llangollen (t's Eglwysegl, Dinbren), all co. Denb. L1270 (Early 17th C.) contains property in Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa and Mechain Uwch Coed only. R4/3 (1650) omits the Llanfihangel Collection. R5/4 (1683-91) contains only the Mochnant Collection, Wynnstay MS 90 (1683-91) only the Llanfihangel Collection, and R5/9 (1701-6) only the Llangedwyn Collection. Wynnstay MS 91 (1692-9) omits the Llangedwyn Collection. In the Mochnant Collection, property in p. Llangynog first appears in R4/3 (1650) and that in p. Llansanffraid in RA10 (1670-4). In the Llangedwyn Collection, property in Oswestry first appears in RA10 (1670-4). Property in t's Eglwysegl and Dinbren is the only property from Llangedwyn Collection contained in R3/9 (1633) and Wynnstay MS 91 (1691) and only property in Llangollen t. and Sgrwgan t. is contained in RA14 (1700-4) and R5/10 (1701-6). Collectors: Griffith Cadwallider, John Calecott, Griffith Jones and Thomas Morrice and Mr Trayford 1626, Humphrey Roberts 1674, Richard Morris 1683-91, John Evans 1701-6, Mr Higgins 1701-6, John Humffreys 1719-25, Peter Lloyd 1725-6, Randle Jones 1736-8, 1744-6, 1772, Thomas Jones 1739-72, John Croft 1745-49. From R24/15 (1739) onwards property in p's Llanarmon, Oswestry, Llangollen (t's Eglwysegl, Dinbren) has been omitted. R26/5 (1741) contains only property in the Llanfihangel Collection: p's Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa (t's Llwydiarth, Cefncleisiog, Dolwar, Rhiwlas, Halfen, Fach-wen, Farchwel, Llaethbwlch), Llanwddyn (t. Garthbwlch). From 1744 to 1748, property in p. Llangollen (t's Eglwysegl, Dinbren) has been incorporated in R27/9, R28/4, R28/6, R28/7, R28/11, R29/9, and property in p. Oswestry is been incorporated in R27/10, R28/6, R28/7, R28/12, R28/18, R29/7, R29/16. From R29/11 (1750) onwards the Llangedwyn collection, and Meifod have been omitted. Post 1772, the collections continue as follows: Llanfihangel collection to Collection III; Mochnant collection to Collection I; Llangedwyn collection to Collections I and IV.

VIG1, 3 and 5 are lettered "Home Department" and VIG2, 4 and 6 are lettered "Estate Department". The volumes for 1884-1885, 1890, 1906-1909 and 1914-1918 are not at NLW, but the references Vig 9-10, 15, 31-33 and 39-42 have been provided in case NLW should acquire them at some future date.
