The poets include John Rhees, 1776-8, Hugh Jones 'o Faes y glase' (1749-1825), Robert Evan 'o Feifod' (fl. c. 1750), Edward Morus 'o'r Plas yn y Pentre', 1785, Ellis Rowland (c. 1650-c. 1730), George Humphreys (senior) (1747?-1813), 1803-7, George Humphreys (junior), Ellis Roberts (d. 1789), Jonathan Hughes (1721-1805), Evan Williams, Rhys Lloyd, Harri 'o Graig y Gath' [Harri Parri (1709?-1800)], Hugh Morris (1622-1709), John Thomas (Pentrefoelas), Thomas Edwards (Twm o'r Nant) (1739-1810) and John Cain alias 'Ceiriog' (c. 1575-c. 1650). Also included is a shoemaker's accounts and a charm against tooothache.

A collection of poetry almost entirely in free metres entitled 'Casgliad o Gerddi a Charolau ar amryw Destynau O waith amriw Feirdd Cymru'. The manuscript is in the hand of David Ellis, Cricieth, and was written around 1790-1. The poets represented are Arthur Jones ('Clochydd Llan Gadwaladr yn swydd Ddinbych') (1743-56), Morys Roberts (Bala), Huw Thomas (Llandderfel) (1729, 1752), David Ellis (1757-91), Huw Morys, Ellis Rowland (Harlech), William Wynne ('Person Llangynhafal') (1745), Richard Parry ('Athraw Ysgol yn Niwbwrch'), Ellis Cadwaladr (Edeirnion) (1718), Ellis ab Ellis ('Gweinidog Eglwys Rhos a Llan Dudno') (1683), Iolo ap Ieuan, Edward Morris, Edward Jones (Bodffari), Rhys Ellis ('o'r Waun'), David Jones otherwise 'Dafydd hir o Lanfair Talhaiarn', Griffith Edward, Morgan Llwyd (Maentwrog), Edward Samuel ('Person Llangarw gwyn'), and Evan Herbert ('Gweinidog Llan Illtud a Llan Fachreth'). At the end of the volume is a table of contents ('Cynwysiad y Caniadau') and an index of poets ('Enwau'r Prydyddion ...'). The spine is lettered 'David Ellis MS'.

The volume also contains anonymous poems and a list of 'Cerddi'r Te' or ballads based on the general introduction of tea-drinking into Wales. At the end there are an index of first lines of the poems included in the volume, an index of authors and a calendar of the contents of NLW Add. MS 9. The collection was compiled approximately during February - July 1902.

A small volume entitled 'Cell-gasgl Sion Lleyn, 1805', containing 'englynion' (chiefly epitaphs), stanzas in free metre including hymn stanzas, and one or two longer poems (e.g. 'Awdl ar Dosturi 1809' and 'Pillion i Dwm or Nant herwydd ei Lyfr, sef Ban y Byd - Creglais o Groglofft &c, 1809, Ebrill 27') by and in the autograph of John Roberts ('Sion Lleyn'). Other poets represented are Griffth Williams('Guttun Peris'), W. Elias and O[wen] Griffith. There is also a list of unfamiliar Welsh words ('Geiriau Cymraeg dieithrol yn amlwg'), with the following note: 'Hyn a gymerwyd o gasgliadau Thos Prys Esqur, Plas Iolun, a D. Ddu a S. Lleyn'. On p. 58 is the note 'Mai 11. 1812 Priodais' [see Cwrtmawr MS 510, p. 106].

An imperfect and mutilated manuscript of anonymous 'cerddi' and 'carolau', of which some are dated within the period 1736-40. There is also one English carol dated 1744.

An imperfect manuscript of 'cerddi' and 'carolau' of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, probably written for the most part by Jenkin David, Cmarch [sic], David Jones, and Evan David, Glaslwyn. The collection was compiled around the period 1765-6. The majority of the poems are anonymous, but the names of the following authors have been recorded, some in the last lines of the compositions: William Nicholas (pp. 4, 48), Thomas John (p. 16), Sion Havart (p. 41), Evan Evans ('o fydwellty yn Sir Feirionydd', p. 60), Evan Griffith (p. 74), Sion Dafydd Sion (p. 82), John Evan ab Evan, 1746 (p. 91), John David John ('o bant y moch mowr yn Llandisil (1631), p. 109). At the end of the volume are blacksmith's and other accounts from the Llandysul area, 1778 and undated, and a list of money gifts entitled 'The names of mens on my Mitting Day' (pp. 141-144). Beginning at the end is a 'halsing', 1722.

Typewritten copies of 'Ymddiddan yr Enaid a'r Corff', 'Y Tri Brenin o Gwlen', and 'cywyddau' by Owain Gwynedd, Siôn Powel 'y Gwehydd o Ryd Eirin', and Gruffudd Hiraethog, taken from 'Y Piser Hir'.

A commonplace book of Evan Evans otherwise Evan ab Evans ('Ieuan Fardd' otherwise 'Ieuan Brydydd Hir', 1731-88), containing excerpts and extracts of prose and verse derived chiefly from English seventeenth and eighteenth century sources, e.g. Alexander Pope (translations of the 'Iliad' and the 'Odyssey'), Samuel Johnson (life of Richard Savage), John Dryden ('Preface to the Fables'), Abraham Cowley ('Miscellanies' and 'Davideis'), Sir John Suckling, William Warburton, William Wycherley, William Congreve, Joseph Addison, Samuel Butler ('Hudibras'), etc. The volume also contains 'englynion' and couplets by William Llyn, 'Theodore Alet', Sion Brwynog, Evan ab Jenkin Evan, D[afydd ap] G[wilym] Iolo Goch, Gwilim ab Ieuan hen, Dafydd ap Edmunt, Huw Cae Llwyd, Sion Tudur, and E. The contents include poetry in Welsh, English, and Latin by Rice Pierce; ecclesiastical precedents; lists of bishops of Bangor, St Asaph, Llandaff and St Davids, deans of Bangor and archbishops of Canterbury; verses by Tho[mas] Owen of Aberffraw; 'Descriptio Salsae Paludis, Wallice Pwllheli'; entries of birth and/or baptism of children of Hugh Thomas of Hendre [parish of Llangelynnin], 1685-7; lists of beneficed clergy in individual parishes in Anglesey; the 'valor' of benefices in the dioceses of Bangor and St Asaph; notes on Oxford Colleges built on the site of old Halls; a list of bishops educated at Jesus College, Oxford; notes on the founders and patrons of individual churches in Anglesey, extracted from Henry Rowland: Mona Antiqua Restaurata (Dublin, 1723); 'englynion' by Edwd. A collection of 'cywyddau' attributed to Dafydd ap Gwilym (17), Dafydd Nanmor (2), Hugh Morys, Madog Benfras, Iolo Goch, and Rhys Cain; 'cerddi' by Ellis Roberts Cowper, and Lewis Morris ('Llywelyn Ddu') ('Llythur Cymun Morgan Goch y Melinydd', with an addition by William Jones, and 'Cerdd Marwnad Llewelyn bach o Gaer ludd'); 'englynion' by Merddyn Emrys and Huw Huws; and an English 'charol to be sung on Christmas morning' by Hugh Hughes, 'late of Foel near Llanerchymedd'.

A volume originally used fairly extensively by Thomas Richards, Darowen as a rentroll of tithes set in the parish of Darowen, 1824-31. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are a note from the Shrewsbury Chronicle, 1829, on the 'Rearing of Apple Trees'; medical, veterinary and household recipes; and accounts of receipts and disbursements (tithes, road rates, rents, etc.) of Thomas Richards, 1827-31. The remainder of the volume was used by Mary Richards, circa 1850-4, to record transcripts of a list of books in the library of Thomas Richards, Darowen; letters from Evan Richards to Thomas Richard[s], curate of Eglwys fach, near Dovy furnace, undated (religious meditations, a pocket Bible), Ch. Meyer, Llanrhaiadr [ym Mochnant], to T[homas] Richards, Llangynyw, undated (news of W. Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], an invitation to the recipient and Arthur [James] John[e]s), Thos Jones, L[eintwar]dine [aft. of Creaton], to Thos. Richard[s] [at Llangynfelyn], 1779 (personal), and [Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd')], Trefriw to T[homas] Richard[s], Darowen, 1823 (the writer's preparations to enter St Bees, the writer's return to Trefriw, personal) (original in Cwrtmawr MS 534, Letter No. 13); a receipt for a sum of £1 l0s. paid for a sundial for the use of the parish of Darowen, 1761; accounts of disbursements by T[homas] Richard[s] at Llanganfelin [Llangynfelyn], 1776-81, and a list (p. 17) of the first pupils entered in his school at Llan y Mowddwy, 1789; poetry in strict and free metres ('cywyddau', 'englynion', etc.) by Robert Parry ('Robin Ddu o Eryri'), [William Williams] ('Gwilim ab Iorwerth'), Ieuan ap R[hys] ab Llywelyn, Huw Caellwyd, Rhys ab Cynfreig Goch, Dafydd ap Ieuan Llwyd, Sion Kerri, Tudur Aled, Roger Kyffin, Dafydd ap Jenkin an Owen, W[illiam] Phillip, Doctor Sion Kent, Gruffyth ab Goronwy Gethin, Edmwnd Prys, Edward Urien, Tuder Penllyn, Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'), [John Jones] 'Tegid', William Cynwal, Hu[w] Llun, Rhys Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Gryffyth ap Efan, Dr Richard Dafis ('Esgob Dewi'), Sion ab Sion, Sion Tudur and Howel Borthor (o'r Trallwng'), and anonymous poems. Among the insets and items mounted on the inside covers are a letter from J. Topham to [ ], 1786 (Mr Stocks's donation); an undated petition by William Davies, late of Cemmes, Llanegrin, Merioneth for a charitable contribution from Price Jones, Cyfronydd (petitioner claims that Cemmes, now in Pryce Jones's possession, was previously the property of his own father John Davies); and Hirnant rent accounts between T[homas] Richards and Captain Gwynne, 1816-18. One of the sources quoted by Mary Richards is a manuscript of Sir Thomas Llwyd, 'Person Cemes, Sir Drefaldwyn'. The outside upper cover is inscribed '1825 Tithe Book'.
