Morrall family history notes,

Original folder of family history notes, including a typescript transcript of the complaint of Richard Price, one of the clerks of John Morrall of Dudleston, dec., employed as his clerk in 'this' [unnamed] court, c.1690; and extensive typescript extracts (62 pp.) from a manuscript volume of parish register entries (27 parishes) and other references to Morrall, compiled by Michael Thomas Morrall, copied by John Alphonsus Morrall (1904), and then (2002) held by Warwickshire County Record Office (probably their ref. Z0428/1(SM)).

Family history notes,

Original file of notes, sketches etc., mainly relating to heraldry, including a copy of Alan Gorton, 'The heraldry of Dudleston church' (1996, [15] pp.); and 'The church of St Wolfrida: a short history'; and notes relating to Henry Hastings, [earl of Shaftesbury (1621-1683)], 2003.

Loose twentieth century genealogical notes, including photocopies of relevant pages from 'History of Powys Fadog' and T. J. Morgan & al., 'Welsh surnames' (1985), and a typescript list headed 'Plas Yolyn (Plas Iolyn Documents, examined 27 April 1983' [not NLW, Plas Yolyn Estate Records and Manuscripts].

Riverway, Wayneflete Tower Avenue, Esher, Surrey,

Original bundle of papers relating to the freehold property called Riverway, purchased by Janetta Townsend, wife of Wilfred Thomas Townsend, from Wayneflete Holdings Ltd in 1936. Also includes a copy agreement for sale of the Esher Place estate by Edgar, viscount D'Abernon, to Richings Park Estates (1928) Ltd, 1928, printed Memorandum and articles of association of the Esher Development Co. Ltd, 1931, and an abstract of title (1894-1934) of Wayneflete Holdings to freehold lands at Esher, 1935. A 1934 agreement for sale is altered in pencil as a draft agreement for sale of Riverway between Mrs J. Townsend and Mrs Edith S. Westley, wife of [blank] Westley of Friars Cottage, Clive Road, Esher, 1942.

Plas Yolyn properties sold,

Volume containing typescript copies of auctioneers' descriptions (some with plans) of sixteen properties sold, Jan. 1920-May 1921. Cover inscribed 'The trustes of the Reverend Cyrus Morrall deceased. Plas Yolyn estate. Details of the conveyances of the various portions of the estate which have been sold, both privately and by auction. Stow Preston & Lyttelton, 12 Lincolns Inn Fields, W.C.2'.

Loose family papers,

Miscellaneous loose family papers, including marriage certificate of John de Mestre Hutchison and Dorothy May Yonge at Sparkwell, co. Devon, 1912; inventory of settled furniture, portraits etc. at Plas Yolyn and Plas Warren settled by Rev. Cyrus Morrall's will, 1914; death certificate of Edward Leathes Young Deacle, vicar of Messing, co. Essex, 1915; newspaper cuttings of the marriage of Walter Lewis Reed and Jean O. Lingard Guthrie of Carnoustie, [n.d.]; letters, 1944-1945, relating to the death of John Rowson Lingard (1860-1944) at the Hospital for Mental Disease, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, where he had been a patient since 1926. Lingard's estate was divided one half to Mrs A. K. Morrall, the other half between his brothers and sisters Mr R. K. Lingard-Guthrie of Cirencester, Charles H. L. Guthrie, Miss Ellen A. L. Guthrie and Mrs Jean O. Reed.

Colonel John Jones the regicide,

Original bundle of papers, including two letters from Edwin A. Hill of New Haven, CT, USA, with a memorandum on the family of William Jones (1624-1706), 24th deputy governor of Connecticut, claimed as a son of John Jones, 1895; and a long letter from R. H. Davies of London enquiring about the John Jones letters published in 'Trans. Hist. Soc. Lancs & Ches.' for 1861 (table of letters, 1651-1660, included), then the property of Rev. Cyrus Morrall of Plas Yolyn, including a letter of introduction from Thomas Ellis, MP for Merioneth, 1898.

Plas Yolyn game, fishing and hunting book,

Volume listing game (partridge, teal, rabbit, hare, landrail, waterhen, pheasant, grouse, wood pigeon, wood cock, snipe etc.) killed, Sept. 1890-Feb. 1912. From the other end of the volume, fishing book, April 1890-June 1911, fox hunting book, Nov. 1894-Dec. 1900, and Bangor races, April 1901-1911.

Plas Yolyn account book,

Plas Yolyn household, tax, tithe, succession and rent accounts, 1887-1908. Inserted items include an undated memorandum from J. Wilson, gamekeeper, to C. Morrall, esq., that he had given a warning to James Rice, labourer, Edward Jones, wheelwright, and George Richards and Thomas Morris of Ifton Heath, colliers, their dogs having chased a rabbit on Plas Warren land; and a poem, the 1909 defeat of England against Australia at cricket having been attributed to their senility, the team having had an average of thirty-four.

Plas Yolyn survey,

Volume intitled 'Survey of the Plas Yolyn estate, the property of the Rev'd Cyrus Morrall, 1878'. At the rear of the volume is a rough rental in pencil of the half-year's rent due 2 Feb. 1910.

Guthrie school note book and cricket score cards,

Note's in a child's hand on the English constitution, based on Dicey's Law of the Constitution. From the rear of the volume are score cards for six innings of a cricket match, presumably England v. Australia, 1880s-1890s, with W. G. Grace and [R. S.] Lucas opening for one team (Grace and [Dick] Barlow for the third innings), and [Alick] Bannerman and [Percy] McDonnel for the other team. The first three pages (at least) have been torn out. Top edge inscribed 'M Guthrie Ilatian' [sic.], and inside front cover inscribed 'M L Guthrie, 22 Sep'r 1878'.
