A Survey or perambulation of the Franchise of Rhyddlan endorsed: 'sent me March 7th 1862 by Mr Bell steward of Mr Conway of Bodrhyddan. I believe this refers to the land attached to the Castle of Rhyddlan metioned in the Statute of Rhyddlan, separately from the Cantred of Englefied and that it is a Franchise not included in the lands of Englefield lordship'. A writ and inquistion, 12 April 1340, whereby it is ascertained that the weir of Gylgarren was raised in the time of John de Hastyng by him, the lord of gylgarran renders therefore to the King 20s yearly at the exchequer of Kermedyn, beyond which sum it is to the King's damage of £29 Yearly, because firewood, timber and other necessaries for the King's town and castle of Cardigan cannot be carried by the river Teyvy, and fish cannot cross it to the King's weirs of Kenarth and Llechred the river being completely blocked.
