Items found loose within the volume, including two leaves excised between ff. 281 and 282 (now ff. 307-308), miscellaneous original documents collected by Rees, 1754-[mid 19 cent.] (ff. 320-325), and newspaper cuttings, [?1825]-[1933] (ff. 331-336), have been placed in an archival envelope (ff. 307-336).

Account book, 1754-1756, of Charles Cope Trubshaw, architect, builder and mason, relating to work carried out mostly in Staffordshire.
The volume contains accounts, with notes and memoranda, January 1754-February 1756 (ff. 1-70); and estimates, notes and sketched designs and plans for specific projects, 1754-1755 (ff. 70 verso-103, inverted text). There are numerous references to the building of the new parish church at Stone, Staffordshire (ff. 6-89 passim). A few additional items are loose within the volume (ff. 73a, 105) or have been tipped in (f. 104).

A transcript of two letters written by Lord George Lyttelton (1709-1773) from Brynkir, 6 July 1755, and from Shrewsbury, 14 July 1755, describing a tour in North Wales.

The diary, 1756-1760, of John Thomas, Tre-main, co. Cardigan, a teacher at Griffith Jones's Circulating Schools, recording his spiritual pilgrimage and including an account of his conversion experience in 1757 (ff. 33-5) as well as his soul-searching in response to some four hundred and seventy sermons by Daniel Rowland, William Williams, Howel Davies, Peter Williams, John Popkin, Richard Tibbott, William Richard and other Methodist clergy and exhorters. Also included are autobiographical notes (ff. 21 verso-5) and transcripts of letters from the hymnist Morgan Rhys (ff. 41, 87 verso-8 verso). The diary has been transcribed by John Thickens and published in Y Drysorfa, 101-3 (1931-1933) and Cylchgrawn Cymdeithas Hanes Eglwys Methodistiaid Calfinaidd Cymru, 56 (1971) and 57 (1972). Three letters, 1909, to the Reverend Gwilym Lewis, rector of Aber, co. Caernarfon, from 1925, found loose inside the volume, have been tipped in (ff. 103-8).

A collection of miscellaneous letters and papers, 1757-1993, purchased or received by donation from various sources by the National Library of Wales during the period June 2008-May 2013 and boxed as one volume.

Journal of tours of Holland, France and Italy undertaken probably by a member of the family of Rushout of Burford, near Tenbury.
In A Dictionary of British and Irish Travellers in Italy, 1701-1800, compiled from the Brinsley Ford Archive by John Ingamells (New Haven and London, 1997), p. 829, the manuscript is ascribed to John Rushout, 1st Baron Northwick (1738-1800) of Northwick Park, Worcestershire; the Dictionary also briefly describes the manuscript's contents.

Account book of Thomas Edwards, Forest, 1760-1772, relating to sales of barley, wheat, and oatmeal, the payment of servants' wages and rent, harvest labour, sheep shearing, etc.

Ten letters in Latin, 1762-1764, from Laurent Theodor Gronovius, Dutch naturalist, to Thomas Pennant, traveller and naturalist, mainly relating to their natural history studies and exchanges of books and specimens.

A volume of music for the harp, [c. 1764], including compositions by, and variations on the work of, Handel and John Parry Ddall of Rhiwabon. The manuscript is in two hands: possibly that of Robert Edwards, a pupil of John Parry (ff. 1-14, 24 verso-26, 36 verso-40), and possibly that of Thomas Roberts (ff. 14 verso-24, 26 verso-36, 40 verso-42a).

One of two albums of the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century (see also NLW MS 11983C), containing press cuttings, printed matter, and some manuscript material compiled probably by a member of the family of Ffoulkes of Eriviatt, Henllan, Denbighshire.

A copy of Evan Evans (Ieuan Brydydd Hir), Some Specimens of the Poetry of the Antient Welsh Bards translated into English ... (London, 1764, ESTC T145881), bound with Rhys Jones, Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru ... (Shrewsbury, 1773, ESTC T116041). On blank leaves added to the volume and on the margins of printed pages David Samwell (1751-1798) has transcribed poems by himself and by other writers and there are also obituary notices of Welsh poets and others by Samwell, as well as press cuttings and a printed copy of Ode for the First of March, 1791, St. David's Day. Inscribed to the Gwyneddigion Society of London, by Dafydd Ddu Feddyg ([?London], 1791, ESTC T231564). Edward Williams (Iolo Morganwg) (1747-1826) has added some notes on Glamorgan bards.

Memorandum book, 1770-[c. 1810], of John Evans, shipwright, containing records of his employment and of letters received, addresses of manufacturers and vendors of pottery and household goods, medicinal recipes, household accounts, references to Wesleyan Methodist sermons heard in England, and professional and family notes.
Numerous references suggest that Evans was a native of Pembrokeshire, perhaps of Haverfordwest, and that he left the county in November 1770 (f. 1) to enter into employment at 'the king yeard' [?the Royal Dockyard at Devonport, Plymouth] (f. 2). Further family memoranda, up to about 1852, were added by his children, John, Ann and Charles Evans and Mary Pow(e) and Mary's daughter Ann Chegwiden Powe.

A copy of Rhys Jones's book Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru .... (Amwythig, 1773), including transcripts of poetry and annotations by the Reverend Walter Davies, 'Gwallter Mechain'. Some of the items appear to have been transcribed from Llyfr Ystrad Alun (NLW MS 7191B). See also NLW MS 1658B, which contains a reference (p. 66) to this manuscript.

A volume entitled 'Casgliad [o] Gywyddau Englynion Cerddi a Charolau o Waith John Jones Athraw ysgol yn Llanddeiniolen Sir Gaernarfon', comprising Welsh poetry in strict and free metres in the hand of John Jones, Llanddeiniolen (fl. second half 18 cent.) (ff. 1-25 verso) and another contemporary hand, probably that of William Jones (ff. 26-34), including fourteen holograph poems of John Jones, [1774], 1778 and [n.d.] (ff. 1-12; cf. NLW MS 346B, ff. 51-73) and poetry by Ellis Roberts (Elis y Cowper), 1791 and [n.d.] (ff. 13-16, 31-32 verso), John Roberts, Treffynnon, 1791 (ff. 18 verso-21), Hugh Jones, Llangwm (ff. 23 verso-25 verso), Robert Gruffudd (ff. 28 verso-30) and an englyn by [Edward Jones] (cf. NLW MS 15C) (f. 25 verso).

Manuscript memoir, 1774-1775, of William Owen, recalling his early years in the Royal Navy, from 1750 to 1761, in particular his time in India from 1754. The volume recounts life and events on board ship, together with incidents, escapades and misadventures ashore.
Owen went to sea as a midshipman and passed his Lieutenant's exam on 1 February 1758 (pp. 328-329). He served aboard several ships, most notably HMS Tyger, 1754-1759 (pp. 137-403), and HMS Sunderland, 1759-1761 (pp. 411-547). He participated in several naval and land actions in the Carnatic, Bengal and elsewhere, including the capture of Geriah (Vijaydurg), February 1756 (pp. 194-204), the expedition to retake Calcutta, December 1756-February 1757 (pp. 242-68), the battle of Chandernagore, 23 March 1757 (pp. 282-9), the naval battles off Cuddalore, 30 April 1758 (pp. 343-7), Negapatam, 3 August 1758 (pp. 368-73) and Pondicherry, 11 September 1759 (pp. 444-9), and the subsequent siege and blockade of Pondicherry, August 1760-January 1761 (pp. 530-53). Other incidents of note include a fraught voyage from Jamaica to England, October 1753-January 1754 (pp. 120-32), an ill-fated shooting expedition in Trincomalee, Ceylon, July 1759 (pp. 427-36), the loss of his right arm during a raid at Pondicherry, 6 October 1760 (pp. 531-6), and the sinking of HMS Sunderland in a cyclone shortly before Owen was due to rejoin her, 1 January 1761 (pp. 544-7). The volume, which contains occasional corrections, deletions and interpolations, is based mainly on Owen's journals, log books and other papers (see NLW, Glansevern Estate Records). A booklet containing transcripts, [18 cent, last ¼], of two letters, dated 6 July 1755 [sic] at Bryn Kyr [Brynkir], Caernarvonshire (ff. 1-10), and 14 July 1755 [sic] at Shrewsury (ff. 10 verso-16), from George Lyttelton, 1st Baron Lyttelton, ostensibly to his brother [Charles], describing a tour through parts of Shropshire and North Wales.
The text, with some differences, was published in The Works of George Lord Lyttelton…, pub. by George Edward Ayscough, Esq. (London: printed for J. Dodsley, in Pall-Mall, 1774, ESTC T79264), pp. 736-751; in print, however, the letters are addressed to 'Mr [Archibald] Bower' and are dated 1756.

An incomplete copy of Rhys Jones, Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru ... (Amwythig, 1773), lacking title-page, some preliminaries, and pp. 265-300 of the text. Y Rhagymadrodd (ff. vii-ixv) is a page-proof copy bearing emendations, possibly in Rhys Jones's hand. A mock title-page (f. v) and the missing text (pp. 265-99) have been supplied by Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836), antiquary, together with additional poems by Guto'r Glyn, Hywel ap Dafydd ab Ieuan ap Rhys, Syr Lewis Meudwy, Owain Gwynedd, Syr Phylip Emlyn, Roger Kyffin, and William Llŷn (pp. 301-426), annotations to the text, and other items. Items found loose in the volume have been tipped in at the end and include Enwau ac ychydig o hanes rhai Beirdd gorchestol probably in the hand of the Reverend David Ellis (1736-1795), Cricieth (pp. 439-49).

A volume containing an account of a tour in North Wales in the form of transcripts, [18 cent., last ¼], of four letters, dated 20-28 September 1776, sent from Caernarfon (pp. 1-25), Tan-y-Bwlch, Merioneth (pp. 27-49), Denbigh (pp. 50-74) and 'Rhyd Dyn' [Rhyddyn], Flintshire (pp. 75-95), commenting mainly on Welsh history and castles.
The transcripts have been heavily corrected and emended in a different hand. The author, who appears to have resided at Rhyddyn, is not named but may be the Rev. William Warrington. His correspondents are identified as a Mr Eyton (p. 1) and a Dr Jeffries (p. 49). Also included are a preface (ff. v-vii) and several versions of a passage, in the same hand as the emendations, relating an encounter with some Irishmen (f. i verso).
