Penybontfawr

A view of the main street running through Penybontfawr, the Railway Inn on the right, the Goat Inn and a hardware store farther down. A policeman (constable 15) is standing in the street as is a boy scout. The scout movement did not take off until 1908, an aid in dating this image.

[Winners of Battalion Challenge Trophy , Penally 1908]

Group portrait of eight soldiers in the Welsh Regiment sitting and standing around a banner proclaiming " Winners of Battalion Challenge Trophy, Penally 1908" below which is a certificate which reads "Battalion Trophy, won by the Llandilo Company 4th Battalion Welsh Regiment at Penally, August 19th 1908" and goes on to list the team members. Unfortunately the team members names are illegible.

[Five Horsemen, possibly Montgomeryshire Yeomanry]

Five mounted soldiers, cap badges indistinct but possibly that of the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry. All are astride horses standing in shallow water on the edge of a river, a wooded hillside behind them. One soldier wears two Territorial Force Proficiency Stars on his lower right sleeve.
