- 1839 May 4.
Part of Powis Castle Estate Records,
Is writing on behalf of Mr Marsh, who left for Pool yesterday and has not yet returned. Peace prevails in the town. The arrival of the soldiers from Brecon is eagerly awaited. No general meetings have been held by the rioters since Tuesday (30th ult.). The mob did not wreck the cellar of the Trewythen Arms Hotel, as alleged in the Press. The soldiers will be quartered in the New Hall.
