Lancs, around a nucleus of officers and other ranks from the 59th Anti-Tank Regiment RA. Second Lieutenant G. D. Woolley RA was posted to the unit from the 1st Reserve Field Regiment.

Original bundle of letters from Eleanor Farjeon, usually from Perrins Walk, London NW3, to Geoffrey Woolley, 17 Feb. 1942-30 Jan. 1961; and carbon copies of two of Woolley's replies, 1942 and 1952. Also ephemera, including 'Queen Elizabeth at Kenilworth Castle' by Eleanor Farjeon / 'How I look at modern painting' by Anthony Blunt (The Listener, 14 July 1938, pp. 73-74), and a prospectus for 'A Sussex alphabet' (Pear Tree Press, pre 1965).

James Guthrie letters

Original bundle of letters from James Guthrie of Flansham, co. Sussex, poet and publisher, to Geoffrey Woolley, 24 Aug. 1939-10 Dec. 1950, including discussing Guthrie's 'To the memory of Edward Thomas' (Flansham: The Pear Tree Press, 1937) (11 Jan. 1940); Woolley's purchase of Edward Thomas letters (see L 13, 9 July 1942), which had previously been in Guthrie's possession, 'but a friend wanted them and I let them go' (3 Aug. 1942); and 'Yes, that was a terrible loss, of Alun Lewis. What can one say?' (18 April 1944).

Dick Randolph letters

Original bundle of letters from Richard Herbert ('Dick') Randolph to Geoffrey Woolley, mainly 1934-1951, plus single letters in 1996 and 2005. In Sept. 1939 Randolph was with the 44th (HC) Div. RASC (TA), based near Wallingham, co. Surrey; in July 1940 with the 20th Armoured Brigade Co. RASC at Porthmadog, co. Caern; and in Sept. 1942, as Capt R.H. Randolph RASC, at HQ 151 Infantry Brigade MEF.

Original bundle of letters from Robert Paul Eckert, usually from Freeport, Illinois, USA, to Geoffrey Woolley, 3 Aug. 1941-15 Sept. 1966; letters from Olga Eckert, his wife, 30 Oct. 1966-16 Feb. 1996, including with news of Robert's death; and photocopies of letters from Eckert to Roger Ingpen, 1934, and John Gawsworth, 1935-1937. Eckert was the author of Edward Thomas: A Biography and a Bibliography (Dent, 1937).
