Penybontfawr

A view of the main street running through Penybontfawr, the Railway Inn on the right, the Goat Inn and a hardware store farther down. A policeman (constable 15) is standing in the street as is a boy scout. The scout movement did not take off until 1908, an aid in dating this image.

[Winners of Battalion Challenge Trophy , Penally 1908]

Group portrait of eight soldiers in the Welsh Regiment sitting and standing around a banner proclaiming " Winners of Battalion Challenge Trophy, Penally 1908" below which is a certificate which reads "Battalion Trophy, won by the Llandilo Company 4th Battalion Welsh Regiment at Penally, August 19th 1908" and goes on to list the team members. Unfortunately the team members names are illegible.

[Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant, Pembroke Yeomanry]

Three quarter length portrait of a veteran soldier in the Pembroke Yeomanry with six proficiency stars and other insignia on his right sleeve. The four chevrons point upwards on his lower sleeve and the eight pointed star above the proficiency stars denote his rank as Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant.

[Officers, Pembroke Yeomanry]

Five officers of the Pembroke Yeomanry photographed against a backdrop of a marquee. Probably photographed at a Territorial Force training camp. All are wearing medals, a number of which have a number of clasps and are probably the Queens South Africa Medal.
