A volume almost entirely in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen largely containing poetry ('cywyddau', 'englynion', etc.) by Rowland Williams, Sion Philip, Guttun Owen, William Philip, Dr John Kent, Dafydd ap E[dmwnt], Edmwnt Prys, Robin Ddu o Fon, James Dwnid [recte Dwnn], Thom. Williams (1817), Iolo Goch, Ifan Tew Brydydd, Taliesin, Davydd ap Gwilim, Huw Arwystl, Hugh Morris, Edward Morris, Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], [David Richards, 'Dewi Silin'], Robert Parry (Eglwys fach), David Rowlands (Plas Isa, Dolgelley), Rev. D. Davies (Castle Caereinion), John Parry, Robert Davies (Nantglyn) and Hu ap Ier. ap Robert, and anonymous poems. Among other items included are a code of manners ('Dysg Vanners dda'); a pedigree of Oliver Cromwell; a drawing and a description of a brass object discovered at Hen fryn fawr near Caersiws [sic], Montgomeryshire, 1808, 'Teilyn[g]dod a theithi yr Iaith Gymraeg', etc. [from Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'): Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain (Abertawy, 1829)]; and a diagram illustrating the civil order and the ecclesiastical order of the months. Much of the volume appears to have been written during the period 1817-18 but there are some personal and other memoranda dated to 1857. Some of the items appear to have been copied from NLW MS 2691 ('Llyfr Pant Phillip').

A volume, dated 1835, which was originally intended as as arithmetic exercise book for T[homas] Cynddelw Richards and was subsequently used by Mary Richards to record a list of bards, etc. who were licenced ('a gafodd Drwydd[ed]') at a Welshpool eisteddfod [?1824] and transcripts of 'cywyddau', 'englynion', etc. by Moris Evan ap Eingan [i..e. Morys Dwyfech], Gruffudd Kenrick Coch, William Llyn, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Ifan Dyfu, Edmund Prys ('Mr o Gylfyddyd'), Ywain Waeta, Howel Kilain, Howel ap Llywelyn Ymael [recte ap y Moel], Dafydd ap Edmund, Gruffudd ap Evan ap Llywelyn Vychan, Dafydd ap Gwilim, Gruffudd ap Gronw Gethin, Tudur Aled, Cuttun [sic] Owain, Gruffudd Llwyd ap Dafydd, Richard Gruffudd ap Huw, Gutto'r Glyn, Sion Tudur, Bedo Brwy[n]llys, Rhys Nant Mor, Sir Dafydd Owain, Wiliam Philip and 'Taliesin' [?1864], and anonymous poems. One of the later transcripts is dated 1865.

A volume originally intended as an arithmetic rule and exercise book but largely used by Mary Richards to record transcripts of fragments of 'Llyma ddeall y Pader Ynghymraeg', ['Breudwyt Pawl Ebostol'], etc., letters from Griffydd Jones (Griffydd Glan Gwynion'), Dolgelle to [Mary] Richards, undated (enclosing a gift of two books) and from Morris Jones ['Meurig Idris'], Dolgellau to the Reverend Thos Richards, Llangynyw, 1845 (a concert at Dolgellau, the double action Cambrian harp) and 'cywyddau' by Gruffydd Hiraethog, Guto'r Glynn, Tudur Aled, William Llyn, Ieuan Tew [Ieuanc], Tudur Penllyn, Huw Kae Llwyd, Llywelyn Goch Amheurig hen, Dafydd Nanmor, Gruffydd Hafren, Syr Owen ap Gwilim, Sion Philip, Bedo Brwynllys, Morys Dwyfech, Dafydd ap Edmwnd, Llowdden, Tomas Penllyn, Meredydd ap Rys and Sion Tudur. On the inside lower cover is an extract beginning 'E Mab Enogi a wnaeth dri ffug Lyfr Ynys Brydain ...' copied from a book of Sir Thomas Llwyd, 'Person Kemes', which later passed into the hands of Angharad Llwyd, Caerwys. Among a number of items pasted on the inside upper cover and fly-leaf is an engraving entitled 'Begging Devotees of China & Jugglers mounted on tame Tigers'.

The contents include a list of names, ages and dates of death of 176 eminent ecclesiastics ('Cofrestr o Enwau, Oedran ac amser marwolaeth y Gwyr enwog canlynol ... '); a tract, 1753 (transcribed 1822), explaining the reasons for the adoption in Great Britain in 1752 of the Gregorian or New Style Calendar ('... y Rhesymmau amlycaf paham y gwnaed y cyfnewidiad diweddar yn y Flwyddyn, ydys yn alw yr Ysteil newydd'); short biographies of early and late British historians ('Ychydig o hanes yr Awdwyr mwyaf hynod a ysgrifennasant am y Brutaniaid yn yr Ynys hon yn gynar ac yn ddiweddar ...'), based on Joshua Thomas: Hanes y Bedyddwyr, Ymhlith y Cymry... Llyfr fy hendaid'). Preceding the texts are a list of contents ('Taflen o gynhwysiad y Llyfr') and a list of names of the poets represented in the volume ('Enwau'r Awdwyr a Sgrifenasant y Caniadau yn y Llyfr hwn'). There are notes and memoranda on the fly-leaves by Lewis Morris and John Morgan. Inside the lower cover is a bill-head of the Wynnstay Arms Hotel or Eagles Inn, Machynlleth. Mary Richards [presumably of Darowen], whose bookplate appears inside the upper cover of the volume, has subsequently added transcripts of 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Sion Tudur, Lewis Glynn Kothi, Tudu[r] Aled, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Gruffudd ap Jenkin ap Llywelyn Vychan, [William Llyn] pp. 352-51, Iolo Goch, Raff ab Robert, Henri Humphreys, and Dafydd ap Gwilim.

Bound in at the end of the volume, also in the hand of Owen Williams, are 'englynion' ('I'r Iesu', etc.) transcribed in 1853 from a manuscript (1655) of William Salesbury of Bachymbyd; two versions of an address on 'Helynt y Cymry, eu hiaith a'u defodau, etc.' delivered at Eisteddfod Tywyn, Tre Fadog, and prepared for publication in the Carnarvon Herald; and a biography of Richard Jones ('Gwyndaf Eryri'; 1785-1848). The volume is lettered on the spine in gold: 'Owain Gwyrfai MS'.
