The file comprises press and magazine cuttings, 1816-1993, including a scrapbook of articles by Captain H.E. Hobbs and others on assorted canine subjects, 1934-1947, 1969, and a number of cuttings, some of which discuss the uses of dog fur and skins, 1930, 1936, 1957; further subjects include Australian dogs and control of the dingo population, 1905-1955.

The series comprises whole issues, individual pages, scrap books and loose cuttings of newspapers and magazines, 1816-1993, covering the biology of breeding, breed types, care, welfare, training, dog-loving celebrities, showing, clubs, animal photography, dogs and the law, working dogs, terriers, spaniels, anecdotes and a few, non-canine topics.
