Colonel John Jones the regicide,

Original bundle of papers, including two letters from Edwin A. Hill of New Haven, CT, USA, with a memorandum on the family of William Jones (1624-1706), 24th deputy governor of Connecticut, claimed as a son of John Jones, 1895; and a long letter from R. H. Davies of London enquiring about the John Jones letters published in 'Trans. Hist. Soc. Lancs & Ches.' for 1861 (table of letters, 1651-1660, included), then the property of Rev. Cyrus Morrall of Plas Yolyn, including a letter of introduction from Thomas Ellis, MP for Merioneth, 1898.

Commonplace book,

Volume containing memoranda relating to gardening (gooseberries, vines, strawberries, fruit trees, melons etc.), building (exterior wash, rough cast, slates), workmen's wages, destroying vermin, gout, diseases in cattle, horses, dogs, sheep, fishing, poultry, surveying, charcoal, oxen etc. etc. The few dates mentioned in the text cover 1794-1814. At the rear of the volume is a family memorandum, 1794 (pp. [176-8]). Includes many inserted items, the few dated items covering 1774-1850.

Grimaldi [from Liverpool] to Edward Morrall [at Liverpool], 1834-1835 and undated (arrangements for lessons in Italian, visits to the opera, invitations to dinner); and drafts of letters by Edward Morrall to G. Grimaldi, [ ] Venzano, and [ ] Marchese (recommending Dr. Harrington as a member of the orchestra, etc.), together with jottings and vocabularies.

Holograph letters addressed to, and papers of, Ann Edwards [the elder] of Cilhendre. The writers include Griffith Kyffin, 1704 (the gift of beef, personal); Ja. Bridgeman, Blod[well], 1718 (the exchange of books, the wedding of Sr. Charles Lloyd); cousin E. Morrall, 1719/20 (Mr. Trevor's case before the House of Lords); Eliz. Markham, 1730 (a bond and a loan); niece Kath. William[s], Chester, undated (2) (personal); niece V. Mathewes, Blodwell, undated (the return of the writer's cousin); daughter F[rances] E[dwards], undated (cousin John's visit to Glascoyd, godmother to cousin Richard Kyffin's daughter); etc. The miscellaneous papers include a note by Edward Podmore for sums of money received from Madam Edwards's servant; a memorandum of account between Edward Morrall and Ann Edwards, 1730 (see also NLW MS 11452C); receipts, 1752-1753, for legacies bequeathed by Mrs. Frances Edwards; etc.

Holograph letters mainly addressed to John Jones of Wrexham, etc., only child of John Jones of Maesygarnedd, together with some miscellaneous papers. The writers include Vincent Corbett, [16]97 (the writer's inability to act as J.P.); [Sir] Wi[lliam] Williams [1st bart., of Glascoed], Gr[ays] Inn, [16]95 (complaints from Mr. Fowle of the recipient's ill dealing); John Jones, Llansilin, to Lady [Margaret] Williams, Glascoed, [16]98 (the vacant living of Llangollen); Edward Kyffin, [16]99 (the recipient's home journey); J. Morgan, Wrexham, 1700 (money against the fair, etc.) (together with a copy of the recipient's reply); J. V., Lond[on], 1703 (the rejection of the Conformity Bill by the House of Lords) (mutilated); Jo. Jones to his cousin, 1706 (money matters); John Williams (endorsed: 'ancestor of Bodelwyddan'), Wrexham, 1713 (an action against the recipient's cousin); [Sir] Wi[lliam] Williams [2nd bart.], 1719/20 (a loan of £300); and ?John Jones to his uncle Humphrey Jones, undated (the recipient's concerns at Machynlleth, etc.) (fragment). Also bound in the volume are a list of four title-deeds, 1689-1696, left with Owen Prichard, 1697; a list, 1698/9, of deeds which Simon Lloyd took to show [Richard] Vaughan of Cors a Gedol [Corsygedol] and were not returned; a receipt, [16]99, from [Sir] Wi[lliam] Williams [1st bart.] to cousin John Jones for £40, being arrears of rent for his part of Bryn y Fynnon [Wrexham]; a news letter, 20 October, 1716, addressed to Mr. Jones at Keel-hendre; a notice, 13 May [ ], from [Sir] Wi[lliam] Williams [1st bart.] to [ ], to pay £30 for two and a half years' rent for Bryn y Fynnon; a second bill for £100 drawn by Hen. Jones upon Mr. Humph. Jones to Clemt. Ireton, 1670; and an imperfect sheet, c. 1684, containing particulars of securities on lands.
