A list of Welsh poets with dates is also included (p. 40). The writer notes that "this curious fragment of the Laws of the Bards was faithfully copied from an ancient parchment roll, which is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford".

Edward Lhuyd: English-Welsh dictionary

A volume, c. 1700, containing an English-Welsh dictionary in the hand of Edward Lhuyd (1660-1709). The plan adopted was to write the English words in two columns, leaving a space after each word for the insertion of the Welsh equivalent; the manuscript begins with 'Badge' and ends with 'Calander' [sic], but the Welsh equivalents have only been given in comparatively few cases.

Egerton Grenville Bagot Phillimore: Achau Cymreig

A volume containing a copy of Cardiff MS 59 made by Egerton Grenville Bagot Phillimore (1856-1937), antiquary, at various dates between 1886 and 1891. The copy ends on p. 75 of the original manuscript and the rest of the original manuscript was copied into another volume, now NLW MS 142B. Though the original manuscript is usually attributed to Thomas Jones (Twm Sion Cati) he was in fact dead in 1611, when the manuscript was written; proof of this is to be seen in an Exchequer Deposition 8 Jas I, Easter 13, where Jones's widow is described as 'Dame Johan Devereux nowe wife of Sir George Devereux, knt., late wife of Thomas Jones, gent.', the date of this entry being April 12 1610. Voluminous notes by Phillimore have been added to the copied manuscript. With NLW MS 142B.

Ellis Roberts: Anterliwt

A volume in the hand of Hugh Davies, 1771 (see p. 62), containing an interlude said to be by Ellis Roberts (d. 1789); the subject seems to be Tair Rhan Oes Dyn, the characters being Ysmaldod y Ffwl, Oferddyn ne Ifienctid, Arglwyddes Pleser, Caru arian, y Cybydd, Mari Filen ei ferch, Canol Oedran ac Anfodlongar ei wraig, Cydwybod, Angeu and Henaint.

Emynau

A volume, [18 cent.], containing hymns, in Welsh, by and in the hand of the Rev. William Williams, Pantycelyn. Some of the hymns were printed (very inaccurately) by Dr N. Cynhafal Jones in Vol. II of Gweithiau Williams Pantycelyn, 1891; others were published by Williams himself in the Aleluia. A letter written to the Rev. William Williams, Truro, Cornwall, by his brother, the Rev. John Williams of Pantycelyn, dated September 1816, has been inserted into the manuscript.

Williams, William, 1717-1791

English-Welsh dictionary

A volume containing an English-Welsh dictionary, c. beginning 18th century. Three englynion by John Rhydderch (1673-1735) are included at the end of the volume (p. 172). It is clear that John Rhydderch made use of this manuscript when compiling his own English-Welsh dictionary (Shrewsbury, 1725), in the preface of which he refers to three manuscript dictionaries, one of which was compiled by the Reverend Erasmus Lewis, vicar of Lampeter; it is therefore possible that NLW MS 321E was written by Erasmus Lewis.

Englynion

A volume, 1747-1748, of englynion and notes in the hand of John Davies, Pentrefoelas (1675-1769); the englynion are all numbered and the names of their authors appended to some of them
