A hymn-tune: 'Awn, awn i'r Ysgol Sul'.

The file comprises a copy of Caniadau y Cyssegr, neu, Gasgliad o Donau Hen a Diweddar...wedi eu cynghaneddu i bedwar o leisiau, gan John Roberts, Henllan (1839). The copy has been annotated and English translations of the hymns supplied by a later hand.

The tune book of 'David Roberts, yr Allt Ddu, Llansannan, Denbighshire, aged 18, 1840', containing hymn-tunes and anthems, including an 'anthem gron' written in the form of an octagon.

The music tune book of Griffith Edwards, Rhydymain, Merioneth, 1846, containing copies of anthems by D[avid] J[enkin] [Dafydd Siencyn] Morgan, J[ohn] Ambrose Lloyd, Edward Stephen Jones ['Tanymarian'] and Ellis Roberts; anthems on temperance and scriptural topics; hymn tunes by R[ichard] Mills ['Rhydderch Hael'], T. Jones, R[osser] Beynon ['Asaph Glan Tâf'], John David Edwards, R. Williams and others; carols, glees and songs, including 'Ymddiddan rhwng Bardd a Henwr', 'Plygeingan Owen Alaw yn Eisteddfod Caernarvon, 1862', 'Cân Plant y Morwr', 'Ymson Myfanwy', 'Blottun Du', 'Bryniau fy Ngwlad', 'Y Mud a'r Byddar', 'Y Dderwen' and 'Y Blodeuyn Olaf'.

Three music books bought by Isaac Williams 'of Mr. Parry, Relieving Officer, Dolgellau, Sept. 1903' and bound together into a single volume. They contain hymn-tunes, anthems and psalm-tunes, mainly by John Williams, Dolgellau, with a few tunes by R[ichard] Mills ['Rhydderch Hael'], one by I. R. Ellis, Dolgellau, 1841, and traditional and anonymous tunes; a poem entitled 'Amgylchiadau Marwolaeth Crist', an 'englyn' ('Y Farchnad Ysprydol'), 'englynion' by 'Shion Rhydderch', three hymns ('Mae'r gwaed a redodd ar y Groes', 7 stanzas, and 'Wrth edrych ar y sail', 4 stanzas, 'Ni'm diystyrir gan fy Nuw', 1 stanza), and a recipe for a cough.

Holograph manuscript of the hymn-tune 'Bryn Calfaria' by William Owen, 1850; four manuscript tune-books and loose manuscript music mostly in the hand of William Owen, including many of his own compositions, (watermark 1825)-[c. 1854]; together with some printed music relating to the composer and photographs relating to the memorial to him erected at Cae Athro in 1913.
