Material relating to a campaign to boycott the sale of South African gold in the UK, organised jointly by End Loans to South Africa (ELTSA) and the Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM), comprising letters, reports, campaign kit and printed leaflets. Also includes letters concerning the AAM's support for the World Gold Commission and the use of the AAM symbol on jewellery made with non-South African gold.

Material relating to calls for the implementation of economic sanctions against the Apartheid regime in South Africa, and the activities carried out at local and national levels in support of sanctions through the AAM "Isolate Apartheid South Africa: Sanctions Now" campaign and the organisation of a mass lobby of Parliament for sanctions against apartheid on 17 June 1986. Material relating to an Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) disinvestment campaign which sought to raise awareness of the extent of British investment in South Africa and how this supported the Apartheid regime there. This file contains material aimed mainly at students attending British universities, consisting of campaign briefings and instructions, correspondence between particular student unions and Barclays Bank, draft memoranda, and printed reports and studies by various organisations such as the AAM, Leeds University South Africa Disinvestment Group, and the United Nations. Also a Trades Union Congress (TUC) report on the withdrawal of all British investment from South Africa, which was circulated to Trade Union Pension Fund Trustees.

Material relating to the Countdown to Democracy in South Africa campaign, which sought to ensure a fair electoral process in the April 27th elections. File includes campaign plans and briefings; letters and statements from the Anti-Apartheid Movement, African National Congress and others; Local Group circulars and meeting agenda; draft background papers; newsletters (including 'Election Monitor'); leaflets; posters and press announcements.

Material relating to the 1993 International Conference on Southern Africa and the International Campaign for Free and Fair Elections in South Africa, comprising launch statements, campaign materials, draft fundraising documents, AAM National Committee reports and minutes, political reports and conference papers, AGM notices and promotional material. This campaign was the pre-cursor to the 'Countdown to Democracy Campaign.'

Mozambique and Angola emergency campaigns,

Material relating to campaigns and initiatives of the Mozambique Angola Committee and the Anti-Apartheid Movement, including the Angola Emergency Campaign and the Mozambique Now! campaign. These campaigns focused on support for peaceful multi-party elections in Angola and Mozambique. Folder includes memoranda, order forms for campaign materials, campaign launch statements and bulletins, campaign plans and timetables, and printed leaflets.

Namibia emergency campaign,

Material relating to the 1988 'Free Namibia Now!' Lobby of Parliament regarding the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 435 calling for the repeal of restrictive legislation and supporting Namibian independence, and its follow-up campaign, 'Namibia Emergency Campaign', initiated by the Namibia Support Committee. Material includes background notes and papers, campaign circulars and briefing papers, reports, conference programmes, copies of news articles, press releases, newsletters, printed items, Namibia Support Committee minutes and papers, and circular letters from the Political Consultative Council of ex SWAPO detainees. Also contains South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO) election campaign material, and a Trades Union Congress (TUC) briefing pack on solidarity with Namibian trade unions. There is also a small amount of material from a 1980 conference on repression in Namibia.

Namibian uranium contracts,

Material relating to the Campaign Against the Namibian Uranium Contracts (CANUC), which opposed the export of uranium to the UK from Namibia.
