Deeds and documents which appear to have been accumulated as the result of an enquiry to the Tredegar estate office by Matthew Williams of Llamarch, Llanelly Hill, Abergavenny in 1932-3, regarding the descendants of William Head of Llanhiledd and the inheritance of theTroedyrhiw estate in Llanfrechfa. They include an agreement between Katherine William of Rogerstone, Basaleg, co. Mon., and William John her son and heir of Henllys, co. Mon., and John Morgan of Basaleg, for the surrender of Troed yrhew Lace, 1755; copies of court rolls of the manorial court of Rogerstone, recording surrenders by William Morgan of Basaleg to John Morgan of Basaleg, of two properties adjoining the river Ebboth and the mill pond (field names given) in Basaleg, 1769, 1776; surrender of the same by Morgan Morgan of Rogerstone to himself for life and after his decease to his wife Ann and their heirs, 1788; surrender by Joan Jenkins of Rogerstone, widow of William Jenkins, and her sons Evan, William, Thomas and Henry, of a m. and lands in Basaleg and woodland in Risca to Edward Bliss of Newport, maltster, 1787; surrender by Edward Bliss to Margaret Rosser of Newport, 1789; a lease to vest possession by William Harrison of the Ton, Rhaglan, to William Morgan of Cleidda, Llanarth, co. Transfer and assignment to Wales Tourist Board,

TRANSFER ASSIGNMENT AND RELEASE by Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas (CoSIRA) to Wales Tourist Board, in consideration of the release by The Secretary of State for the Environment and the covenant of Wales Tourist Board of certain securities or other property held by or on behalf of the Crown, particulars of which are contained in the attached schedule. Lease for 99 years of a piece of ground where W. J. and D. J. have lately erected a house, situated on Gellydeeg Farm, p. Bedwas, reserving to 1 all wood, minerals and stone; covenants relating to trading in alcohol and repairs. Rent: £1 11s. Endorsed: Memorandum of no. 1946 below and of an agreement confirming it, dated 30 November 1891.

1 John Daniel of Abersychan and Pontypool, co. Mon., grocer. 2 William Jeremiah of New York, America, real estate broker. Deed of partition of a piece of ground on which a house has been erected, situated on Gellydeeg Farm, p. Bedwas, (shown in a coloured plan). Rent: half each of £1 11s. Recites no. 1945 above and that 1 and 2 are entitled to the said premises and have agreed to make partition. Endorsed: Memorandum of an agreement between 1 and 2 to partition the said premises, 30 Nov. 1891, reciting that William Jeremiah (father of 2) died in 1868; that Daniel Jeremiah died in 1870 and Ann Jeremiah died in 1876, leaving two sons, William Jeremiah and John Marmaduke Jeremiah; that the latter died in 1879, leaving all his property by will to John Daniel, with the power to partition it; and that letters of administration of Ann Jeremiah were granted to 2 on 7 Nov. 1891.

Machen, Daniel Jenkyn, Minister of the Gospel, William Williams, Minister of the Gospel and William Thomas, surveyor, all of p. Mynyddislwyn, Daniel Lewis, Minister of the Gospel and Philip John, draper, both of the town of Newport. Lease for three lives of Capel y groes, p. Machen, co. Mon. in trust for the Welsh Calvinistic Methodists, according to regulations set out in a deed of declaration dated 10 Aug. 1826, enrolled in the High Court of Chancery, to allow the chapel to be used for religious worship; to let the seats in the said chapel and to use the income appropriately; to convey, sell, mortgage or otherwise dispose of the said premises in accordance with official directions from the Welsh Calvinistic Connection, subject to the provision of proper receipts by the trustees; and to use moneys thus raised in accordance with offical directions, with further terms and conditions concerning the appointment of replacement trustees and the financial responsibilities of all trustees. Recites the original demise for three lives by John Jones of Llanarth Court, co. Mon., to 1 of a piece of ground in Machen, dated 1 May 1843, and that a chapel has since been erected on part of that ground for the use of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodists at their own expense.

Order of the Council of the Marches of Wales in an action by Sir Thomas Middleton the elder, kt, plaintiff, against Ipsilon Puttenham, defendant, for plaintiff to have peaceful occupation of a piece of common or waste ground in Chirk, for defendant to pay costs and to remove the frame of a building which he had erected there, under the assumption that the land belonged to John Edwards the elder, and to make the said John Edwards a defendant in the ensuing bill to appear in court the following January.
