London's dead donkeys follow each other on to the stage", Oct. 1944. Also some other papers, including a report on the occupation of installations NE of Leese [Kampfstoffabrik Leese chemical manufacturing plant], April 1945. This file mostly comprises a bundle originally labelled 'Wartime letters', although it also included some dating to his school and university days.

Original bundle of letters from Robert Paul Eckert, usually from Freeport, Illinois, USA, to Geoffrey Woolley, 3 Aug. 1941-15 Sept. 1966; letters from Olga Eckert, his wife, 30 Oct. 1966-16 Feb. 1996, including with news of Robert's death; and photocopies of letters from Eckert to Roger Ingpen, 1934, and John Gawsworth, 1935-1937. Eckert was the author of Edward Thomas: A Biography and a Bibliography (Dent, 1937).

File comprises drafts of letters from Gordon MacDonald to the Speaker, Edward FitzRoy and the Prime Minister Winston Churchill as well as a letter and telegrams addressed to Gordon MacDonald along with correspondence relating to work with the BBC..

Letters and cards from Geoffrey Woolley to his parents, from a [school?] trip to France and Germany, April 1934, with letters from Lille, visiting Vimy Ridge and Arras, then Freiburg, Titisee, Feldberg and Konstanz. Also a card from Suffolk (7 Aug.), and letters from a skiing trip to Ober-gurgl in the Austrian Tirol, 24 Dec. 1934-6 Jan. 1935. A page of an account of the journey from Lille to Freiburg, the remains of a letter or a diary, has been added.

Letters from his mother, comprising a postcard to Geoffrey at Dakyns' House, Clifton College, 2[-] May 1934 (postmark), and letters, April 1941-March 1942, usually written weekly on Mondays from Rhyd Hall, Tredegar, with occasional postscripts from his father. Gap June 1934-March 1941 inclusive.

Journal for the year 1 Jan.-24 Dec. 1934, including leaving Clifton School (July), and starting at Caius College, Cambridge (Oct.), but with many blank days, especially in March and Dec. Includes a list of books read during the year (37). Enclosures include a packing list for Cambridge.

Original bundle of letters from Richard Herbert ('Dick') Randolph to Geoffrey Woolley, mainly 1934-1951, plus single letters in 1996 and 2005. In Sept. 1939 Randolph was with the 44th (HC) Div. RASC (TA), based near Wallingham, co. Surrey; in July 1940 with the 20th Armoured Brigade Co. RASC at Porthmadog, co. Caern; and in Sept. 1942, as Capt R.H. Randolph RASC, at HQ 151 Infantry Brigade MEF.
