A volume belonging to the Rev. Ellis Thomas Davies, Independent minister, Abergele, containing poems and greetings in English and Welsh, autographs and sketches, 1849-1885, mainly by other Independent ministers, including Hugh Hughes (Huw Tegai), [1849x1864] (f. 3), Rowland Williams (Hwfa Môn), [1851], 1858 (ff. 3, 18 verso), William Williams (Caledfryn), 1852 (f. 5), William Rees (Gwilym Hiraethog), [1850s] (ff. 8, 55), Thomas Roberts (Scorpion), 1853 (f. 9), Michael D. Jones, [1857x1879] (f. 17), Henry Rees, 1863 (f. 50), Samuel Roberts (S.R.), 1867 (f. 54 verso), R. T. Evans, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 1881 (f. 57 verso), Robert Parry (Robyn Ddu Eryri), 1880 (f. 98 verso), and many others including family members.
Among the works quoted are a Latin poem by George Herbert (f. 1 verso) and a Bengali version of John 3.16, 1885 (f. 75 verso). There are englynion in English by David Griffith (Clwydfardd) referring to a visit to the Great Exhibition, 1851 (f. 77). Also included are sketches of a dog, 1878 (f. 31), and of Abergele, 1866 (f. 67).

A manuscript written by the Reverend David James ('Dewi o Ddyfed'), Llandysul, containing 'englynion At y Parch Dewi o Ddyfed, Rhagfyr 8, 1837' by William Hughes; 'Englynion o Ddiolchgarwch i'r Parch Dewi ap Iago o Langwm, am ei wobr o 'Gorph y Gaingc', 1837', by 'Owain, Lle'rpwll'; 'Lines written by Mr. Stone the Parodist on his birthday in 1835', with a Welsh translation by Peter Jones ('Pedr Fardd'); 'englynion' on the Bible, the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymn Book by Peter Jones ('Pedr Fardd'); and an 'englyn I'r Awyren (Balloon)' by Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd').

Poetry by Owen, together with biographical notes, rhymes, riddles and miscellanea. Most of the work in this volume is published in Cell Meudwy ..., 1877.

A transcript, with annotations, by John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro') of the Flores Poeticae of John Davies under the title 'Flores Poeticae: or the Poetical works of the late Rev. John Davies, of Glandwr and Moriah in the Congregational Union of the Welsh part of Pembrokeshire: Being copied from his own collection, in manuscript, by his disciple and admirer, John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro'), March, Cambridgeshire, 1897, Volume I'. The transcriber has added compositions of his own on matters connected with Ietwen, John Davies, and his children, and transcripts of other writings by John Davies. At the end of the manuscript is a Cardiff printed broadside 'Mynwent Hebron' by John Lloyd James, 1862.

Diary, 1862, including 'poetical rhymes' in Welsh, written by Joseph Jenkins on his journey to Carmarthen, 18 May 1862. A mystical mark has been drawn on the diary's front cover.

'Englynion' and miscellaneous verses, some in the autograph of the authors and some of them relating to the Wynn Williams family of Menaifron, Dwyran, Anglesey and Bronwylfa, Llandderfel. They include 'englynion' by Robert Williams ('Robert ap Gwilym Ddu') (1766-1850), E[van] Breeze ('Ieuan Cadfan') (1799-1855), R. Lloyd Foulkes and Rowland Huw (1714-1802); verses by G. B. Lewis, Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') (1802-1863), R. A. Pierce ('Cystenyn'), Richard Roberts (1818-1876), E. Jones, R[obert] [Mona] Williamson (1807-1852) and David Lewis; an English translation [?by and] in the autograph of William Owen [-Pughe] (1759-1835); 'Marwnad ... am y Farddones glodwiw Mrs. Hemans' [Felicia Dorothea Browne Hemans (1793-1835)] by 'Trallodus'.

Three music books bought by Isaac Williams 'of Mr. Parry, Relieving Officer, Dolgellau, Sept. 1903' and bound together into a single volume. They contain hymn-tunes, anthems and psalm-tunes, mainly by John Williams, Dolgellau, with a few tunes by R[ichard] Mills ['Rhydderch Hael'], one by I. R. Ellis, Dolgellau, 1841, and traditional and anonymous tunes; a poem entitled 'Amgylchiadau Marwolaeth Crist', an 'englyn' ('Y Farchnad Ysprydol'), 'englynion' by 'Shion Rhydderch', three hymns ('Mae'r gwaed a redodd ar y Groes', 7 stanzas, and 'Wrth edrych ar y sail', 4 stanzas, 'Ni'm diystyrir gan fy Nuw', 1 stanza), and a recipe for a cough.

Two essays in Welsh (one incomplete) on the Taf valley in counties Carmarthen and Pembroke by the Reverend John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro', 1835-1919) (ff. 1-39); two letters, 1895, from Jonathan N. Davies ('Carnalaw'), Liverpool, to 'Clwydwenfro' discussing the latter's poetry (ff. 40-5v); and poetry by 'Carnalaw' and 'Clwydwenfro'.

Miscellaneous poems, [c. 1859]-[1940s], including a hymn attributed to Siarl Marc, written in a mid-nineteenth century hand; two carols [watermark 1859], one of which is by Thomas Hughes, Llanllyfni, Caernarvonshire; an anonymous ballad, entitled 'Explosion gwaith powdwr Penrhyndeudraeth'; a cywydd entitled 'Chwefror', [c. 1917], by J. R. Morris, Liverpool, together with an awdl, probably by the same author, entitled 'Y Nos'; and a Welsh translation, [?1940s], by T. Ifor Rees of Edward Fitzgerald's The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyámm, with a covering letter, 1948, from Rees in Bolivia.
